In sorting out my '52 Suburban build, I find I need new hood hinge springs- one is missing, the other tired. The only replacements I can find online are NOS and $75. I would think if you knew the length, strength, spring rate, etc., you could probably replace them with other springs, possibly from a hardware store. Anyone tackle this yet?

I need to install these springs on the hinges of my hood (1949 Chrysler Windsor). Could someone show me a picture of what it looks like once installed? I also welcome any advice on how to install the spring. I believe I know where the spring goes and I indicate it on the picture.

Hey all, The D-24 is coming along. Needed a ton more metal-work than expected, but it's all coming together. Ready for paint, engine and tranny are both rebuilt and painted, ready for install, and interior is set to go. Until...got a call today asking if I can find a replacement right side, back door, lower hinge. The existing is messed up enough it shouldn't be used if we can avoid it. Any leads on where to get one. I think calling junk yards will be pretty futile. I was able to get most of the parts I needed (gaskets, weather-stripping, etc.) from Andy B. I don't think they'd carry something like this though. Thanks!

Had to remove my doors and hinges and the pins are not reusable...Anybody out there have any door hinge pins or know where I can purchase them for my '49?
