  11. Need some help here I am trying to remove the front of the differential on my 51 Meadowbrook and I'm wondering if I need to pull the axles To get the front off? I've Removed the Carter pin and flange nut that hold the sleeve that connects to the drive shaft.I can't seem to get the collar off the front that the flange that holds down. I've got the bolts off of the pumpkin that hold the front of the differential on . But I can't get it to com off! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
  12. When i bought my 51 Meadowbrook a few months ago i bought a pretty shiney new fuel cap for it off of Ebay. It said it would work on my car. After putting it on i noticed bubbles in my glass fuel filter! At first i thought it was vapor locking from heat because i've had some old muscle cars do that. after checking the heat on the engine and compartment area, I found that it wasnt heat. The new shiney gas cap had too much seal to it causing the fuel line to bubble and lose pressure!
  13. yes starter reinstalled and it works great!
  14. ok i got my rebuilt starter back from Texas alternator and starter in Austin Tx back on Jan 5th sorry im just now posting this. I asked the owner whos been in the buisness for over 50 years, about the starter if it was interchangable with the 6101. He checked his book and some website to make sure before i had it rebuilt. He told me that the 6101 , 6201 and the 6205 were interchangeable. He said that there were suddlle changes made to the starters but it did not effect how they fit or worked on the vehicle.
  15. I had to take the starter out of my 51 Meadowbrook a few weeks ago and ended up using an extra long wobbel head extension and ground down mt socket to shorten it. worked like a charm after that. the bottom bolt i just used a open end wrench to loosen.
  16. According to PMX custom alternators and starters the 6201 and 6205 are interchangeable.
  17. It's still fluid drive with a 3 speed manual transmisson. As far as the motor goes all I know is it's a 230 ci flathead 6 . I thought they were all interchangeable.
  18. Is it interchangeable with a 1951 ?
  19. The starter is a mch-6205
  20. Got the starter out and the armature is worn down probably from sticking once the motor started. The teeth on the flywheel look ok. I'm guessing that the armature wasn't going back in after starting .
  21. Will the brushes and bushing keep it from engaging and making contact with the fly wheel ? Right now it'll spin but won't engage but if I tap with a hammer it will engage and turn the motor.
  22. I have. 51 Meadowbrook that's been converted over to 12 volt system. I believe my starter that's on now is a 6 volt. I'm trying to find out what 12 volt starters will fit the 230 ci straight 6 , part number or where to find one that fits would be helpful . Thanks for your input
