  4. Cleaned the block and found these markings. Can anyone tell me if this engine is for a 1951 dodge? http://s264.photobucket.com/user/ct_wolfpack72/media/IMG_7051.jpg.html?filters[user]=62213203&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0
  5. Is that something a machine shop needs to die?
  6. Ok I removed the water pump to find this!! It looks like a sleeve in the water jacket and a hole on the right side. The hole on the right side you can see the piston cylinder. There's no water going into the oil I'm thinking patch the spot on the left with epoxy putty and grind it smooth. But it really doesn't seem to be hurting anything. Any thoughts??
  7. I'm gonna keep it stock . All my friends are telling me to drop in a v8 and automatic but I love the ol gal just the way she is!
  8. Got the crank shaft pulled out and Pistons removed . The main bearings look like they're in pretty good shape! The Piston pins are in good shape too. Next to pull the cam shaft tomorrow to check the cam bearings. I'll be taking the crank shaft to the machine shop tomorrow.
  9. I'm sure I'm missing a good story about Warsaw and the P head lol
  10. Question does the bearing part of the throw out bearing pressed onto the sleeve? Or do I have to buy the sleeve and bearing all in one piece ?
  11. We tore into the engine and so far we're pleased with what we've found! The only damage so far seems to be to the rod bearings for the number 3 and 6 Pistons. The timing chain appears to be new as well as the timing gear. More to follow.
  12. Well I've decided to just bite the bullet and rebuild my 230 engine! Yesterday we unhooked the transmission and pulled the Engine wiinimal trouble! No broken bolts or stuck nuts so that was good! I am looking for a crank shaft pulley now so if anybody knows of one let me know. My Buddy Ted helping me pull the motor
  13. Well the guy that lives close to me that has the 1949 - 218 Plymouth engine decided he's going to leave the engine in a while longer so he can make some car shows! So yesterday my buddy Ted and I pulled the engine and today we started tearing it down! More to follow!
  14. Can that oil pan be dropped with out pulling the motor ?
  15. I'm not sure what kind? I just know it's in his 49 Plymouth mounted to his 218 and he claims that he can drive it at 70 mph no problem using the 5 speed. I'm guessing it has overdrive to do that? I may have to change the U Joint connection on my drive shaft , lengthen or shorten it
  16. Luckily during the Lone Star Round up, I ran into a buddy of mine that has a 49 Plymouth with a 218 and a 5 speed Transmission that he just rebuilt, and lives 2 miles from me! So we're going to pull it so he can put in a 440 and put the 218 and 5 speed in mine! And the price ain't bad $500 for all of it
  17. From photos I have it appears to have fluid drive on it.
  18. I'll have to ask the guy with the engine if it's on there . I asked the guy and he's not sure. Would the flange on my motor go on that Plymouth motor?
  19. It's making some serious squealing and metal to metal noises. I have not pulled the oil pump. And not sure what to look for if it isn't working . I did put a stethoscope on the oil pump and could hear movement my oil release valve may be stuck too.
  20. I'm also looking at a flathead 6 with tranny out of a 1954 dodge truck it's in California so either way it's going to be a road trip!
  21. I do have my bell housing and tranny that I could bolt up to, as long as it is a straight bolt in
  22. The 1958 I'm looking at buying is located in Florida and I'm located in Texas . I'll have to see if the guy can send me some pics
  23. Will a flathead 6 and transmission out of a 1958 Plymouth fury belvedere interchange with a 51 Dodge Meadowbrook?
  24. Well it looks like the engine has permanent damage to it so I'll have to pull it an rebuild it.
