  1. Hi guys Thanks for the info and help. It was 5/16 UNC Here's a pic of a trial fit just to see what it looks like.
  2. Thanks for the info I realise imperial might be a broad term to use. You have confirmed my original thought that they maybe 1/4" so I'll try that and see. how I get on.
  3. On all four of the trucks I've owned I've always sound proofed them. Add Dynamat style sound proofing to the floor, up cab side of the fire wall and cab roof. Take off inner door panels and add sound proofing just a large square will do you don't need to do the whole inside of the door. Try and make sure all the holes where wires and cables pass through the firewall are sealed up as much possible. I buy a couple of metres of black automotive carpet and just cut to size. I try and use it as far up the firewall as I can. If you haven't got a headliner it will definitely be noisy. It's not just wind noise it's also the booming of all the metal panels the noise just echoes and vibrates all the metal. By deadening as much of the metal panels as possible it stops a lot of noise in the cab. I've just finished my 45 last week.
  4. So I've got hold of a set of front fenders for my 45 dodge a hundred miles up the road from me which in the UK is amazing really! My pickup currently doesn't have any fenders on so I don't have an idea what bolts hold on the fenders. As the UK is also mainly metric your average motor store doesn't have imperial bolts so I have to order them. Does anyone know what size bolt and type of thread? they look about 1/4 inch Thanks Jimbo
  5. Yeh it's something I'm looking to sort out it was a modification by the previous owner. I need to get hold of some sort of better looking crank for it.
  6. Looks and sounds real nice. Great job.
  7. The turbo setup and headers were all looking a bit on the rusty side. I took off the pipes and sat them to soak with an electric current and soda crystals to remove the rust. Repainted everything in hi temp silver which improved the look of everything. I didn't like the purple interior so I stripped it down. Removed windscreen Sanded flat and painted it red to match the fire wall. Looks a lot better. Will be putting it all back together next week with some sound proofing and carpet.
  8. Unfortunately nowhere near you I live in Staffordshire! Still a bit closer than the USA though!
  9. Looks good, how does it feel on the move?
  10. That's a nice truck! I'm also in the UK and have just received my 45 last Friday. Keep the updates and pics coming.
  11. nice steady progress, looking good!
  12. The neighbours probably just think "he's got another one!" I've had 4 in 2 years! 2 apache's and a 49 international KB1. I like this one the best though. It drives really well and straight down the road with the gentle woosh of the turbo, My mates love it, they all wish they had the balls to own something like this.
  13. Here's a little video my son filmed just after it was taken off the transporter click on this one as well it won't embed on to the post I'll get some better ones when I get chance.
  14. Yeh I will do once I've got the Title from the shippers then I can register the vehicle in the UK and legally drive it on the road.
  15. Yeh I think I should be ok then. Once about every ten years or so towards London it has reached 99F and I'm 250 miles north of there!
  16. I don't think it's running too hot I was just wondering what the average and what's on the wrong side of hot. It came from Kansas. Rescued from a junk yard in 2008 which it had sat since the 60s I've even got the original Kansas 1945 license plate for it. I have also got a load of build pics I will put up sometime as well.
  17. Yeh it is a bit on the warm side for this time of year. It's normally around 65f. It's normally June,July and August that get high 70s to 80f. The English weather has always been a little crazy in spring, the week before it was snowing! What's sort of normal operating temps should I expect?
  18. It runs really well super smooth the power is really linear. I left it running on the drive for about 20 mins and it sat at 185. Hey the weather got to 81F last weekend!
  19. Yeh I know what you mean about the temps around the carb maybe a heat shield might be a good idea. However it does run really smooth. The pressure is only around 4psi. It just gives a nice little bit of a poke to the motor. I will be cleaning the exhaust and manifold up as they are a bit nasty looking at the moment.
  20. I've had several Chevy V8's and inline 6's but absolutely love my flat 6 and the way it sounds. Way more period like than any V8. I think it's a great thing to be doing. A little modern but period looking tech with the added bonus of a bit more poke!
  21. Here a few more pics of the turbo setup. it uses a turbo from a 1.8 Pontiac.
  22. Looks really sweet, what's the plan with it? Are you keeping it the full length of the chassis or are you going to shorten it? What kind of bed are you going out on it? Maybe a transporter flatbed so you can take another truck to shows or meets etc?
  23. You can't beat nice new shiny parts! I will be interested to see what kind of performance and feel you get from the engine plus we all like pics of new parts on an engine
  24. Here's a few more close up pics of turbo set up and rear end etc I'll try and get a Video sorted at some point as well.
