  1. Here is my '42 WC "Job Rated" Pickup and according to the build sheet, it's 100% original! http://s40.photobucket.com/user/tubeviper/slideshow/1942%20Dodge%20WC

  3. I have the original vacuum motor on the right wiper and someone's attempt at an electric one on the left. I'd kind of like to replace them both with the best 12V units for the job. Which motors fit best? Thanks!
  4. Looks exactly like what I have! Thanks! The odometer on mine doesn't work though,,,

  6. I saw a judging check list somewhere which mentioned to be sure the speedometer has a long needle. Mine has a short needle which makes me believe it is not the correct one. Can someone please clue me in as to what the proper speedometer looks like? Thanks!
  7. "The book" calls for 140W in the transmission and 90W in the rear end. Probably GL1 for both. But it doesn't seem that GL1 is available any more. And I have heard that GL4 and GL5 can damage parts in old transmissions. So what is one to do? Use GL4/5 or find GL1?
  8. I know that many folks do not like to use the sock-type element but isn't that what you have to use with a bypass filter? If a full flow filter element is used in a bypass filter, will problems develop, the least of which is a drop in oil pressure? It was my understanding that one should really use a bypass element in a bypass filter setup. Thanks,
  9. Were the cowl lamps originally intended to be directional indicators, running lights or both? If just one, where was the other type located? Which makes the most sense to me was that they were intended to be directional indicators and, besides the headlights, there were no running lights on the front. Thanks, Dave
  10. OK, I got the cowl lamps apart and I see what the problem is. The sockets have only one wire going to them and the chassis ground is the other conductor. A bad idea especially in a 73 year old vehicle. Therefore I would like to replace my cowl lamp bulb sockets with new modern 2-wire ones. Has anyone done this before and can tell me exactly which manufacturer/model of socket will snap right into the original mounting hardware? Thanks, Dave
  11. Not wanting to damage the cowl lamps on my '42 WC, I thought I'd first ask.... How does one access the bulbs in the cowl lamps? How is the lens supposed to come off? Pull on the trim ring or... Thanks, Dave
  12. Thanks, JB. My build sheet oil filter description reads "Del Oil Filter" so I guess I'll look for a T-handle Deluxe Oil Filter Cannister like the one in this photo. Please let me know if anyone would be open to selling me one ... Thanks!
  13. Yes, but seeing as how I have a copy of the factory build sheet, and it specifies an oil filter with a part number "602-B-16", I'd sure like to find one of them...
  14. Engine is numbers matching original... Yeah, I lost money on every vehicle I ever restored. It took me 30 or so years to figure this out and I have been planning such a purchase for a while. Unfortunately the seller of the truck I bought lost a whole bunch of money (and time) when he sold it to me. Therefore I have a fully restored truck which I got for about half the money and hardly any hours invested. I think this approach is fine for the guy who has already put in countless thousands of hours in previously doing restorations
  15. Greetings all, For years, I was the guy pouring in countless dollars and hours into a restoration just to sell the vehicle at a huge loss. Well I finally got smart and just bought the attached original, numbers matching 1942 Dodge WC Job-rated pickup truck which someone else restored! I also received the original build sheet with it which says it came with an oil filter, but there is no oil filter on the engine. The build sheet is kind of hard to read but the oil filter line says something like: EX 602-B-16 Del OilFilter Any ideas where I can find one? Thanks! Dave
