You sir are a life (sanity) saver. That's the one! It's like an itch is finally scratched. I feared if I didn't find it soon I was going to have to order a straight jacket for myself. I have no idea how you found it so fast but thank you so much!

I have been searching the furthest corners of google for house looking for one specific car with absolutely no luck. I'm looking for a 46-48 Chrysler windsor/New Yorker that is painted in a candy orange with a white/off white roof. It has a roof rack and has a total surfer look. Does anyone have this picture? The angle is taken from the rear driver side fender I believe. I found it right after I bought my windsor (may 2015) and never saved it.

I think a sound clip is in order It definitely has a cool classic look. Like I'd expect to see the neon on the strip reflecting off the tips

Fenderskirts on my 48 Plymouth, what hardware do I need?
Tatback replied to juspasinthru's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Plymouthy....I agree completely. The ones that sit on top (in my opinion) just look like an after thought. I did search all over eBay with no luck tonight. Those fiberglass skirts are just beautiful. Deathbound, thank you for the link. Lol yes cheaply is my biggest factor at this point. Maybe later on down the road I'll do it right. For now though, stock it's staying. I'm not gonna risk anything just to be a couple inches lower right now. -

Where did you get those fiberglass skirts? I'm trying to find a pair just like those. I can't safely lower the rear end (scrub line) so I'm just going to make it look clean with skirts. -
I haven't been able to test it out yet. I did call Pertronix on the phone and probably talked (frustrated) the guy for 20-30 mins about my wiring. I can list the steps that he gave me if you would like. He did tell me that I did not need a resistor so we'll see how it goes without one. DonaldSmith installed a resistor in his setup and hasn't mentioned a problem. CoronetGuy, maybe the lack of resistor is the problem?

Oil Pump Gasket, Fuel Pump Gasket, and Speedometer Cable
Tatback replied to Tatback's topic in P15-D24 Forum
It was incredible easy. I just used the top of my tool box and a razor blade. Best part.....I have enough gasket material left over to make plenty more (For the price I would of paid for one online) -
I was lucky enough to find the old gaskets I took off of the oil and fuel pump and make new ones. I bought a package of mixed FelPro gasket sheets from Autozone for 7.99. I put a ruler in the picture for anyone who wants to print it out and use as a template. Also, I ended up getting this Speedometer cable while I was there. It's 120 inches (only one they had in stock) but I cut it down to around 67 1/2 give or take an inch. It was on 3.99 and works Just putting it out there for anyone in the future looking through the threads.

I bought an original running engine (251) with everything still bolted on it a few months ago from a man in Kansas for 450 Compression is supposed to be 120 on every cylinder (haven't checked yet)

Hahaha.... Remember when I said I read through all the past threads before posting? Well... I followed suit and attacked the screw with a dremel as well before even posting lol I guess if all my friends jump off a bridge I do too. But I do appreciate the heads up and will be carrying the points and condenser along, just incase. I did get a flamethrower coil as well to replace this one.

Thank you everyone for your replies. And a huge THANK YOU to DonaldSmith for that incredible answer. I will have to cut the wire ties and see where everything goes. Seems like the guy who sold it to me changed a few things around, I'll have to straighten those out before I proceed. I'll be diving in tomorrow and tackling all of this. Hopefully.... A cruise will be in order tomorrow night.

I'm confused as to the instructions. After breaking down last week (bad coil, no spark) the wife ordered me the pertronix kit and coil as it was on my goodies list. I'm trying to install it but I'm confused as to the coil +/- Orientation and the connection of the wires. Here are the included instructions. (48 251 positive ground) And here is my current coil and wiring configuration. In the picture the positive side of the coil is on the left. On the negative (right) side of the coil that single green wire connects to a plate in the distrubitor. The other two on the left (positive side of the coil) I have no idea where they go. The instructions say only two wires should be attached to the coil at the end. Please help as I'm lost and have no idea where to go. Oh and the obligatory side of the road pic

No worries about that, I disconnect the battery when I'm not driving it or when I'm working on it. I'm about as graceful as Clark Griswold when working on things so I tend to take as many precautions as I can.

Your car was absolutely beautiful! I really like the blue dash. Did you paint it yourself?

Then that's what I'll do, this weekend I'll get under there. I should be doing it today since the weather is perfect.. Ok it's a little cold out. (65) But thank you for the tip as well... Knowing me... I would of pulled it out in the car and it would of flipped about all over making my interior look like a zebra

I changed the vent cowl gasket and I can see the water coming in from the bottom of the windshield and pooling and running down at the corners. It's pretty bad. The rear didn't really leak from what I could see but it is cracked all along. The engine isn't bad but it's far from new. As far as I know, and have been told, it's all original with no rebuild. But it starts right up, runs smooth, and gets surprisingly good gas mileage. And as far as paint... I'm not sure what I'll end up with, but that's how it came and eventually I'll do something different. The radio is actually sitting in the back of my Subaru with a box of misc parts that came with the car. I don't know if I have the mounting bracket though. The clear knob with a crown you speak of I have, it's on the cowl vent arm though. The floppy knobs for the windows are so hard to find, I only have one (drivers window) the rest are just the arm.

Thank you everyone for your responses, I never realized how universal the cables can be (I've never actually took one apart or really inspected one for that matter) I'll try to take the cable out this weekend and measure it and see what I need. I do remember seeing a slight bend/kink above the exhaust shield so maybe thats where it rubbed and finally snapped.

I'm sorry about that!!! The Chrysler has been out on 4 pretty good cruises. The switch over for the oil system was a success. I now have a full flow system and when cruising its just over the 40 mark, when I'm at a traffic light it drops down to around 15/20. The accelerator pump still is doing its stumble issue but its very minimal now and usually only noticeable when the engine is cold. I never did take it apart, I've just kinda hoped the gas would expand the leather itself lol. The only issue now is the horn doesn't work (not connected), the turn signal switch is giving issues (only works when it wants to) and the speedo cable is snapped (I have its own thread for that) But honestly everything has been a success. We went to dinner Saturday night and while we were paying the check a mini hurricane decided to hit. We found out that night just how much the windshield gasket needs changing. We could of bought a pet gold fish on the way home and kept it on the floor. I replaced the weather stripping all over except the front and rear window. Looks like I'll be doing that before thinking about taking it out when a storm is near. But it was a fun experience driving home in it and we had many laughs along the way.

....I will have absolutely no idea. My speedometer cable broke. (I'm assuming) I've been out enjoying the Chrysler to no end and she's been running flawlessly, then the speedometer odometer stopped working. I've searched through all the threads on how to replace the internal cable BUT can't find any link to a universal cable that will fit. I'm trying not to order one from Bernbaum as it'll probably come out to 70 bucks with shipping when I can find tons around 10-15 bucks. Can anyone point me to one that they have used with success? Thank you in advance!

Very sorry to hear this, I'll be sure to put in a prayer with the Gentleman upstairs for you.
-
Wife and I will both say a prayer for you both! Stay strong

You definitely have our prayers tonight and every night after. Wishing you all the very best and for a Christmas miracle.
-
Thank you, I just joined both.

I just had to pull and replace my engine on my 48 Windsor. It wasn't easy but I was able to remove the engine with the hood on. I unbolted the engine from the bell housing and unbolted the flywheel from the end of the crankshaft. Wasn't the easiest way, probably, but allowed me to keep the hood and front end on.
