  1. awesome job!!! I dont think i'll ever get mine looking that good.
  2. I will do this when I get home tonight from work... If no brake fluid is visible inside the MC do I add the fluid via the plug port in the MC that i'm looking in? Also, just a curiosity question of "how things work" if it is not visible and I add fluid to the MC would that not put air in my brakelines so i'd have to bleed the brakes anyway?
  3. Pedal goes down with no braking effect and comes back up. Tried the "pumping" method and did not create any braking effect or leakage. Before I write my next statement, please keep in mind I have no knowledge of working on cars. Where is the master cylinder located at so I can check to see if it has fluid in it?
  4. I haven't posted for a while. I've just been discouraged working on my car with my lack of mechanical knowledge. In simplest Alaska48 terms... my brakes don't work. Push the pedal down and it falls to the floor. Do I need to bleed the brakes and this will fix it or do I need to replace the master cylinder? I wish I had someone up here to help me. I've asked a couple of people the last two years and they're either unable or unwilling to assist me. I don't want to take it to a shop and have them charge me $1000 and I still learn nothing. I'm intimidated by going to a car club and just showing up "Hey guys, can someone come over to my house and show me whats wrong with my car?" Does anyone know of a writeup or walkthrough on P15s or older cars on how to troubleshoot this problem? I've seen a few writeups but they're for a lot newer vehicles that dont apply to my car. I would appreciate any pictures, simple step by step troubleshoot or walkthrough or advice ya'll can provide me. At a minimum, please don't flame me out of here or refer me to a link, at least provide me words of encouragement. I really wanna drive this car around this summer. I'm so close, she runs great, but just can't brake at all. I haven't driven her since I was 17 and i'm almost 30 now. The driving season is so short up here, I want to get a good opportunity to get her rolling on the street.
  5. Truck side? Like... the dark side?
  6. FINALLY!!!! I got her to turn over and fire... ignition coil was the culprit!!!! I was so excited to take it a quick run around the culdasac, just a few yards or so... came to the quick realization that I have no brakes... no accidents (no traffic on a dead end road) so I "momentumed" her back into the garage... I guess thats step 2 now, but at least she runs...
  7. yes, it took me this long to get one of my "friends" to come over and help me with my car... we trouble shooted it and found the problem to be the ignition coil.... my question is, to replace it, do I need to find a 8v coil because I am running an 8v battery or will a 6v coil work? I'm not trying to play stupid, I just may be that dumb but i've been having a hard time finding if any 8v coils exist so I am assuming a 6v will do, but I need the forum's blessing first before I purchase
  8. After weeks of begging and pleading with friends, I finally may have my shot at an actual start on my Plymouth.... I'm still stuck on the "car will turn over but no spark" phase, so I'm at the point where I need a second person to turn over while I check for spark.... I have one friend who has a 66 Impala and another dude who is very mechanically inclined... however, neither have them have been available to come over and help me... its so hard to find good friends these days. My neighbor has a 57 Bel Air but i'm too chicken to go over and talk to him cause his car is in near mint condition and I feel inferior to him.... So hopefully this weekend I will be in business.... its so depressing waiting, but I suppose I have nobody to blame but myself
  9. Every time i've tried to sell a car online, I always get burned using ebay or cars.com craigslist is the way to go... its free and they always buy off of there
  10. There's a restored 802 on Ebay right now for $265 + shipping.... $299 buy it now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1947-1948-DODGE-PLYMOUTH-CHRYSLER-RADIO-RESTORED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ80741QQihZ002QQitemZ120260464416QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW These are expensive. but I admit that it does look a lot better than the one sitting in my car now. I would love to have something similar looking with CD player technology. My stereo doesn't work any more for some reason, I gotta tinker around back there but thats on the bottom of my "things to do" list
  11. Dang it.... foiled again
  12. Two fatal flaws... I will ensure correcting them, I did do it right last night, I was going to start a frappr map, but found out that someone did, so I bumped the thread up. I will keep in mind the (OT) notation on my threads.
  13. Hmmm... looks to be about right, I suppose i'll stick it on ebay or somethin
  14. Pete- I'm in love with that FJC, are you on the cruiser forum too?
  15. I just had to bump this thread because I love frappr and this thread kind of died out several months ago, I would like to suggest *sticky* so newbies to the site can add themselves to the map Since someone claimed a "furthest south" title, I suppose I'll claim the "furthest north" title Edit: Other newbies, here's the frappr link if you don't want to dig through the rest of the thread for it. http://www.frappr.com/vintageplymouthdodgeowners
  16. Digging through my pile of spare Plymouth parts in the trunk, I came across an ashtray, that has similar trim and coloring to my interior, but I cannot figure out where it goes. The two ashtrays in the back seat are in tact and are smaller than my mistery tray... is this a pullout from a different vehicle or does it go somewhere... Here is a pic of the tray in question in comparison with the back seat ash tray
  17. Thank you, PM sent
  18. I have conflicting information... as usual. The parts shop told me that the spark plugs I bought need to be gapped at .30 and the owner manual that I bought for the P15 said .26 I figure that is big enough a difference to be worried about and just wondering if the gap depends on the actual spark plug or on the type of car. Also if anyone knows the torque specs for spark plugs I would appreciate a quick post on it. I got my owners manual and a parts book off of ebay. I thought I was buying a service manual but as usual I never read the whole thing, while the parts book is informative with pictures, it doesn't tell me how to do anything... So now I have to find a real "service manual".... I swear, I just can't win.... I vow to actively search and purchase a service manual tonight for the ones who are sick of my trivial questions.... just bear with me for now.
  19. Bob, I had two questions, What is that hook looking thing in the middle of your roof? and was that vanity mirror on the passenger side an aftermarket option available through Plymouth or is it something you had custom made? Thanks, AK48
  20. Wow, whats the tow rating on our rigs?
  21. Speaking of teenagers pumping gas, if anyone is from or has been to Oregon they don't let you pump your own gas (its illegal!!!) and they have a dude out there that does it for you
  22. yup I have them ordered off ebay, still waiting
  23. hmmm.... interesting, I'll have to try that tonight after work
