  1. Most good paint jobs in my area cost between $8-10000. Materials range any where from $1200-3000 depending on what brand of paints and color. Friend of mine pd 8500 to paint his Ford and it was just a basic blue and car was pretty straight
  2. Very nice. Get yourself a starter off a 94-95 dodge truck with a v8. They are high torque and much smaller. Would give you more room
  3. I would have left the efi pump in the tank ran a return line and regulated it down. Much more reliable and quiet compared to inline pump. Looks good though
  4. Plus those trans are probably the simplest to build. Built my own for years. Watched a guy once and realized how simple they were
  5. Looking good. Wish I was this far on mine. I'd like to just get it back rolling again
  6. Yep like this one.http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j148/LODI3QTR/1950%20Plymouth%20Wagon/_54-----_zpsa89921f2.jpg I'd buy one if its priced right
  7. Wish I could find one for my 54 dodge suburban
  8. That is cool
  9. Looks nice. At least you have a place to go sit and look at service manual or write something down if you need to
  10. Back in the day people used to take the old cams and cut a groove front to back on the journals then put the cams in and rotate them to clearance fit them. I have a cam that's cut that way. I've only done it once and it worked fine. Motor had 75k on it when I sold truck and had great oil pressure. I've personally never had one go in and turn the first time. My machinist I use now always asks for the cam I'm going to use
  11. I've put together several dozen big block Mopars and have had to have all cam journals line honed. If not the cams are hard to turn. My last one I had the bearings in and out 5 times till it turned free. Also have seen people polish the bearing to make it fit
  12. That's awesome. Best rewards are when things come together and work
  13. sorry to hear about that. I figured that would have ran pretty good since the weight of the cars are pretty close. I built a 400 stroker. They run well 400 block .030 over 440 crank and use chevy bb rod you'll get a 472. I have one in my wife's 66 charger. Six pack cam and 10.1 compression with Mopar aluminum heads and put out 513 horse.
  14. ya I cut and reshaped the original snuber to get more clearance. Also raised the car an inch in the rear. Still very low but that's what I wanted. Next weekend onto installing rear wheel wells back in.
  15. Well pinion is 1" from the snubber. I like it but what a chain reaction to clear everything else.
  16. So I was able to get back to work on the car again. Got the firewall cut and reshaped. Also got motor sitting on mounts and o/d transmission installed. Had to raise transmission tunnel 2 1/2" to clear driveshaft. Car sits to low
  17. I'll look tonight I'm pretty positive there 3.54 gears. Pinion seal is leaking so that will need to be addressed
  18. I'm not sure on what p pat form I've got. It's a 54 dodge suburban with v8. Research I found id's it should be 3.54 but I'll definitely look tonight.
  19. If 54 is the same I may have a set. My wagon was v8. I was told those were 3.54 gears. I can look tonight if your interested.
  20. Its definitely been a challenge and testing my skills. I enjoy it. Its a break away from everything else going on. As for firewall I only have to take the hump out of it. Easy solution
  21. Got back yo work on my 54 suburban. Got the mustangii suspension in and the rear four link bars in. Set the motor and trans in today to see how much firewall needs to be cut. Thankfully not to much
  22. How about putting a white roof on it starting at the bottom of the pillars.
  23. The Durango used a squirrel cage long fan above the headliner from 98-03 but it didn't work well until the rest of the vehicle cooled down as it received the air from up front. It was a very very poor design. I had one and hated it. Didn't work well here in arizona
  24. I might have a set of 3.54 in my suburban. That is if it's the same axle. I won't be using them since I'm running a double over drive transmission. So I'm putting in 4.10 gears behind my new hemi
  25. I like the gray with the hemi. Im painting my 54 the old b5 blue as well. I think it with the gray hemi would look good
