  1. Yeah, my car has a factory heater...model 50 unit.
  2. No, I have that intact...what I'm missing is some sort of drain box or tray for undernieth the cowl vent, inside.
  3. Welcome aboard...glad I Pm'd ya{well, probably wan't the only guy maybe} -MJunkie
  4. 40 plymouths have a 3x5 access plate under the brake pedal..one bolt removes it but it'll be tight access. Removing the floor board will serve you better for complete access to nearly everything - man I love that!
  5. I see two holes for screws or small bolts on either side of the inside of the cowl vent opening, inside the dash...nothing else. Looks like someone removed it long ago. What was it...a tray of sorts...a box....did it run to the top of the heater core? Anyone have a pic of theirs? ..or one of the car?
  6. AAJ's rear disc kit looks great...why the no kit cost though?
  7. Hi folks, my 40 plymouth has the dash somewhat apart at the moment to redo the gauges, steering wheel and sloppy shifter...while in there I noticed it seemed awefully empty under the cowl vent - isn't there supposed to be something under that vent? I have a drain tube from the inside firewall that goes to nothing....doesn't go to the heater{model 50 unit}. Anyone know if I'm missing something...or where to find or make one?
  8. Thanks for the input Paul, that is what I was looking to do...just hoping someone chimed in with specific years to scout for or parts. Heck, if I could find disc tophats that would fit over the hub and make a template to mount a caliper to I'd do it in order to retro fit rear discs...the drum conversion at the moment is an easier way to go.
  9. Has anyone converted their cars rear brakes from lockheed type{non self adj} to the Bendix type that self adjusts...easier to find parts for the bendix type too after the swap. I have a 40 plymouth and plan on front discs and a new MC with dual reservoirs in the very near future but would like to update the rear brakes as well without having to swap the whole rear axle out - nothing wrong with it and I like the gearing. I saw the article here that shows how to unattach your riveted brake drum from the rear hub...great article!...but what about us folks who now run lockheed brakes and wish to switch? Has anyone swapped these and if so what donor cars or parts are there to look for?
  10. I just redid my 40 plymouth sedan trunk badge and found out quickly that it the paint wasn't applied in big batches one wound up with brush marks, so I grabbed a paint bulb used for transfering paint to apply my paint in big amounts...think of it as an eye dropper but all thin plastic. I just filled the bulb, touched where I need that paint, squeezed alittle and dragged as I went along until it was filled. I'm at 3 coats now to fill the badge evenly and high enough for my liking. I'll clear lacquer coat when it's done.
  11. Thanks...I haven't seen any of these as of yet so it's hard to tell if I'm getting it right or not. I used Tamiya model paint to paint this all in....clear red, clear orange, clear blue and gloss white - they were handy at the time. As was said, the nose trim badge and radio speaker trim badge are the same...I figured why not the trunk badge as well...till shown different at least.
  12. Falconvan, the way these trans are set up they have the 3 on the tree shifter, when pulled towards you in the car, that action brings the trans rear arm up and makes the trans "select" the R/1st range...it's a spring loaded arm so in the rest position it's in 2nd/3rd range. Swing the shifter up or down "in that forward range" and you'll be going between R/1st via the other arm{front one which moves the gears}.....let the shifter go towards the dash and your in the 2nd/3rd range again...the most common set used while driving. You really only need 1st when at a dead stop - she's got alot of torque and can roll thru a stop sign in 2nd in a straight up clutch car and even easier in a later model fluid drive car!
  13. What did you need to ask while I'm there{and here too}....? I asked him how much for one.....no responce yet....MJ
  14. Here, just snapped a pic of the revamp- Orange clear surround, semi transparanet blue water area, white ship still and red for the bottom....Look right? Yeah, I haven't polished out the silver separation edges yet...I'm working on it....
  15. 1st off, Hi folks, new guy here to the forum. I own a 40 plymouth P10 touring sedan and have a question, what are the colors supposed to be for the 40's trunk badge? It was void of any color when I got the car back in november so I did what I thought was the right thing and filled her in with red since there was a trace of it in spots and the ship was solid white...now after looking at my nose trim badge and the dash speaker location I see those have a very colorful fill in....so this brings my above question into play, anyone know what the correct colors are for my badge? Trunk badge 1st time- Nose trim badge-
  16. Cool...our local police department has an old plymouth inside the front entrance...a 37 I believe..no drives were being offered even for the cubscouts during our tour...I asked!
  17. I love that article but have a question...what can we 40 owners do for converting from Lockheed to bendix hardware as is the type shown in that article...would it be simple as finding a donor with the backing plates?...would they bolt on?...here's a reach, anyone convert to rear discs yet via some sort of tophats on the hub?! I'd love some sort of self adjusting going on back there without having to swap out the whole rear axle!
  18. I've ran into folks whose car has a cable/rod set up and those who've had twin rods...this was for 40 plymouths. Mine has the rod/cable...rod for R/1st and 2nd/3rd shifting and the cable for the sellection of R/1st to 2nd/3rd range of the trans. Either way my 40 plymouth runs the shift rod down the top of the steering shaft...just for reference sake.
  19. Hi folks, here's mine, er...what's left of mine! Where do I sign up for wanting one of those recast...count me in!
