i have a hood release handle with a cable attatched. it is chrome. supposed to be for a hood release inside the car. i have it to install in my 54 windsor but will probably never do that. my wife will be back in town after this saturday and can text you a picture. my email is captdennis29@gmail.com. let me know if you are interested. dennis

i neede something to put air pressure into the cylinder on my 265 flathead to test if the valves are leaking. i think i saw somewhere that you can add a tire valve to an old spark plug to do this. anyone know the way to make this tool? thanks....dennis

my neighbor has a lift i can use. i will get it up,and when the rear wheels turn i can adjust them since i cannot remember the last time they were done. then i will bleed the system thorughly. i did run the master dry the last time i was bleeding, so that put air in. i also read that the fronts need the lower cylinders bled first, then the uppers, and i only bled the uppers. not sure why that order. thenks for all the rteplies. dennis

the fluid was definitely coming out the cap.put a temperory gasket on it.but, i still have to bleed the whole system. on the tech. site they recommendede a pressure bleeder so i may try that. dennis

Bob, nice to hear from you, nice work on that master. my master was leaking from the fill cap, but i found a gasket for a carb. at the parts store that works, i will now search for the proper one. thanks for all who answered dennis.
-
the reason i want a proper gasket is because i am losing brake fluid and cannot find a leak at any of the wheels or lines anywhere. while filling the master i saw that the oring i used as a gasket was ripped and a piece of it was inside the master. i think the fluid is coming out at the cap where the is no seal when you use the brakes. only way to confirm this is by having a proper seal on the fill cap. the fiber one is best since it will squish on and make up for the small amount of rust in that area. last time it went low it did allow some air in the system so now i have to bleed the whole thing. dennis

desoto, alot of good info there. thanks. i have a napa nearby. i remember that the gasket was a thin metal washer, but having the correct fiber one should be better. thanks, dennis

i tried to use an o ring on the fill cap for the master cylinder on my 54 windsor. it does not seat properly and i actually ended up with a small piece of it broken off and ending up inside the master. the original one is a metal crush washer but i have not found one available anywhere. a teflon washer of this size would work, but where to get one? these small parts can often be hard to get. and as an aside, hidden valley auto parts is closing early next year. you can bring tools and get what you want. dennis

what is a speedi sleeve. obviously i never used one. dennis

over the years i have a collection of rotors points and condensers and they rarelywill fit my 54 chryler 265 flethead. i am sure this is the original dist., so i always have to order new ignition parts to have the right fit. guess i should just get rid of all the old stuff. i have owned several early 50's over the years so i am just confusing myself keeping all the old stuff. dennis

great find. put seat belts in and you can take kids in it and they will love this old car. start them young. i love the grilles on these years. dennis

what is a ball cap?

i am in the process of replacing mine.i have it connected at the tranny, now i have to put it through the firewall and connect it to the back of the speedo. no reason why you cannot replace just the insert, but if it is broken at the trans. you still need to remove it there to get the insert out. my hardest part is the laying inside the car to connect at the speedo.. maybe tomorrow. i had bought a new cable online a few years ago but the end at the speedo did not thread on properly. it is all plastic and since the cable fell off recently at the speedo i am replacing it with an original cable and insert. hope all fits well. dennis
-
that usually means the speedo locked up and you need to lube it in the rear where the cable goes in. a little tricky to do, but i did it with mine.there is a bit of felt like material in there that needs a light oil. just squirt some in there and use the end of the broken cable to move it back and forth slowly until it frees up.then a new cable and all will be well. dennis

bottom 3 look like the ones on my 54 windsor.
