  1. I guess I wanted to make sure if I put a Battery Tender on the battery, I won't have to do anything special.
  2. I'm thinking I may pull the battery because the building the car is stored in does not have heat.
  3. Hi all. I just clicked the join button. I'm in Northeast Pa. I have a 1949 Chrysler Traveler.
  4. So, I won't be driving my 49 Traveler much this winter. Normally I would put a Battery Tender on my vehicle to keep the Battery happy. Since this is my first car with a 6-volt system and positive ground. What is the best way to keep a battery charged during winter storage?
  5. My Traveler has AC 46's in it. I've been researching replacements. BTW nothing wrong with how it runs.
  6. Oh, ok. I take my Traveler to work every so often. I work at the Body shop in Nesquehoning. I worked for KME for a while.
  7. I saw that car not too long ago. I believe the owner also has a Packard.
  8. What material did you use? Looks great!
  9. I had a chance to clean a section of the firewall. Removed the windshield washer jar. Here is the data plate. Can anyone decode the numbers. I don’t see a build date but from what I’ve read. First Series cars were built from December 1948 to January of 1949.
  10. Thanks for posting that article. Very informative. Unfortunately, the step for my Traveler has long been lost. I'd like to see if anyone had one to possibly use it as a template to make a replacement. I've been doing some cleaning on the old Chrysler. Here is as she sits now. She has some bumps and bruises ad some hap hazard repairs done during her life time. Overall, she is in great survivor condition.
  11. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'm in the Poconos.
  12. The car does have Fluid Drive. I plan on getting a service manual and checking point, plugs etc.
  13. See what the weather looks like
  14. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'm in the Poconos.
  15. I am close to Broadheadsville. Not far from you.
  16. There is no fold down rear seat in this model. Just a fold down center arm rest. Yes, it does have fluid drive. Here is a photo of the back seat previous to my ownership.
  17. Hello everyone. New here and new to Mopar and new to Flathead motors. I just picked up this 1949 Chrysler Traveler. I understand it's a First Series so most of it is left over '48 stuff. There are some things I will need to do with the car. My first concern is, the car falls flat in 3rd gear trying to ascend an incline. When I down shift into low gear, it sound like I'm revving the hell out of the motor. Somewhere along the line, someone installed an electric fuel pump. I'm wondering if the motor is starving for fuel when going up hill. Otherwise it drives fine. I was also considering putting back to a mechanical pump. The fuel pump seems readily available.
