Judging from the three pictures I posted on my taillight & bracket assembly, do you think my bracket is after market? Ggdad1951 knows more about old Dodge stuff than me. If he's willing to volunteer his opinion, I'll rely on his assessment re: whether or not the bracket shown in my taillight pictures is "real McCoy Dodge" from the day. I think the can is original Dodge equipment, but because of the cutout, I concede it was for the driver side. I patched/enclosed that as you can see in picture #2 which shows the bottom of the can/shell. I have it listed on eBay as original equipment. I do not want to misrepresent with an inaccurate description. If you guys think the bracket is after market I'll change the description in the listing... Thanks, jc

WOW! Your truck is spectacular! Your brackets are different than mine, though. Plus, I covet thy center tailgate hinge. As owner, operator, labor force, and bookkeeper of Pilothouse Interiors, LLC, I put a lot of interiors in trucks that looked like that. Many of them went to members of the club. My truck (1951 B3C) was respectable, but not as beautiful as yours. Included a couple photos of interiors I did for club members. The brown or saddle colored interior, for a B Model without the corner glass, were harder to do. There was no forgiveness in the fit. I think that was on of the reasons Dodge went to the 5 window design??? The second photo from right shows how I closed the cutout on my taillight. There's a change of angles in the can and that makes enclosing it a bit more challenging. Thanks for the photos of your truck. You should be proud of it. jc

Interesting. Always saw them on driver side. Do you have a taillight on the driver & passenger side?

Thanks for responding to my question. The taillight bracket is stamped opposite the bracket for the driver side. It sure looks like the "real McCoy". Have you ever seen a bucket without the cut out? Also, any suggestions where I could find a glass insert? John

Should the opening on the bottom of the bucket be there if the taillight is mounted on the PASSENGER SIDE? I realize a glass lens would go there to allow light to shine down on the license pate, but since the plate is mounted on the driver side it seems like this opening on passenger side should be closed. What did Dodge do in the day? Should there be a piece of glass, a piece of metal, or was the bucket different for Passenger side-- perhaps closed with no cut out or opening?

Maybe you could oversee the pattern for headliner fabrication distribution? I could send you a pattern to share with club members. Headliners are a bit of an involved component, but I'd be willing to offer any assistance you might need (or get in the way upon your request)... Of all the things I offered in the way of interiors, the headliner seemed to be the most requested. I thought of imposing this task to Brent and Julie Hoffman, but I don't know how much time people have for something like that. Those two are probably still busy earning their first billion dollars so they can become UMC members.

Retiring my business, Pilothouse Interiors, LLC. Don't know what I'm going to do with all the patterns, how to do it files, and inventory. Met some really nice people through this club site and would be willing to consider giving some of it away. Right now I'm focused on traveling in my new Airstream, but I will have things to get rid of when I return. john

Hi, Brent. Great to hear from you. Hope you and Julie are both well. I've been been busier than a termite in a lumber yard rebuilding that interior light. All I need now is a bulb to see if it works... Local parts stores have 12 volt bulbs, but I'm hoping for a 6 volt. Being the dull character that I am, I need a dull light. jc

Anyone know what the numbers are for 6 volt light bulbs for my B3C 1951 Pilothouse Truck Curtesy/dome light? Also, pleasen recommend a possible source for purchasing them.

I'd be happy to send you a headliner pattern-- free of charge. Maybe it could be passed along to other club members after you make a tracing of it... You could purchase panel boards from Miami Corp.-- easy to find on-line. I'd recommend the black on one side and tan on the other side. That's what I use for headliners. It comes in sheets about 30" wide by 60" long. Sheets cost about $13.00/sheet. The black side is a baked-on finish and would look acceptable inside the cab. The link I sent you earlier has pictures of Headliners. I'd be happy to offer advice for assembly of the pattern pieces. I make and sell interior components for these trucks, but I'm overwhelmed with orders. If I could help you guys who are do-it-yourselfers I'd be happy to assist. I wish to make no money at this offer... jc

Someone else told me that too, but the original hardware is harder to come by. Dodge did not produce as many passenger side visors as driver side visors. If after market is ok with the purchaser then DMC's visors are probably a good deal.

I'd be glad to help you with interior questions. I have patterns for the Headliner. Also, the sun visors were options. The passenger side bracket for the sun visors is usually hard to find. The driver's side is a bit more common and easier to find. Your door panels were rectangular and did not have a hump on the top edge. The hump style stopped in 1950. www.pilothouseinteriors.com

TERMINOLOGY CORRECTION: The elderly gentleman who told me the bulb below the DODGE lettering on the original lenses was called a "beehive" is now saying he "... misspoke." He said they were called FISHEYES. He's a neat old guy and hopes everyone understands the memory lapse... He and I are both hoping it didn't cause too much confusion. Oldbuck_oldtruck

A couple of guys have recommended Roberts for the glass lenses. I've looked at those before, but I don't think the originals had the "Dodge" lettering in them. I don't know for sure if my assumption re: the lettering is correct Can anyone advise on that? Oldbuck_Oldtruck

Hi, Guys: I'm trying to purchase the correct tail light assembly for my 1951 B3C. The bucket that came with the truck when I purchased it looks correct, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. The diameter on my plastic lens is 3-7/8". I know it's supposed to be glass, but I think it's supposed to be more like a 2-5/8" diameter? If that's the case then my bucket is also not the original factory installed piece. Also, is the lens round, or is it more like an hour glass shape? jc at Pilothouse Interiors

Can anyone tell me how to get my windshield wipers to come to rest in the upright position. I have a 1951 B3C and the wipers are electric and come to rest in the horizontal position. I thought of switching the right for the left and the left for the right, but I'm not sure that's the correct way, or if that would even work. I just like the way they look when they point up and towards the corners of the windshield when turned off. oldbuck_oldtruck
