Thanks for all the comments, sold a '28 Ford Sport Coupe for $400.00 (paid $50.00) to buy the '40 as I wanted a modern car. Don, I think you're just jealous!!!

I believe Plymouth 1937 thru 1941, Dodge 1937 thru 1940, and Chrysler 1937 thru 1939 all used the same MC, mopar #858889. Mopar MC service package part #800002 (with piston) and #947598 (w/o piston) for 1937 thru 1941 Plymouth,

Welcome, Nice Belvedere !! My older brother and I shared a '51 Belvedere in the late '60's, was granddads car that was given to us. Was rear ended in '71 at one of the two stoplights on I- 90 (North Bend, Wa.), My dad continued to drive it to work for several years and sold it. Was a nice orginal 70,000 mile car. You're not far from me, I'm in Auburn.

I converted my 53 pilot house standard cab to a vent window in the '80's. I gutted the doors from a deluxe cab and put the parts into my standard cab doors with no modifications, so I guess you could go the other way with the right parts.

That's also how my '38 and '40 are set up, my '36 has a column mounted non cancelling lever. I prefer the 3 way toggle switch. -

I was wrong, my '38 RC ammeter also has 3 posts. I used the fused post to run power to a fuse block from which I run headlights/taillights, dash lights, wipers, heater, and radio from. Also changed over to 12 volt. My shop manual indicates that one unfused post is connected to the power stud on the starter, the other unfused pole is connected to the generator and relay, and the fused post powers the headlight/taillight switch, the horn, and the instrument panel light switch. The manual doesn't indicate what gauge wire was used on any of those circuits.

The ammeter on my '38 RC has 2 posts on the back. Doesn't seem right that your third post would be wired to the voltage regulator, seems like it would be an accessory power outlet as mentioned before. I'll look to see if I have a wiring schematic.
