i am sorry i rambled and did not outline the new plan. the new frame will have no bags no v8. pretty much stock i want to build a hopped up flat six most likely with a t-5 dual carbs and fenton headers. dropped uprights my disk brakes dropped rear leaf sprinngs and probably blocks in the rear.stock gas tank and floors. in the end a much nicer finished car.
i knew the title would make you guys look.lol..
so here is my car.
this is from a few weeks a go.
the most recent.
the motor going back in.
the motor is a small block chevy that i installed.the car also has a two link rear suspension.so my intension for the for the car has always been to be a traditional custom. i have built this car in driveways flooded one car garages.now i finally have a nice garage to work in.i have no doubt cut corners as a means to an end. and i am for sure not happy about some of them.
so this leads us to last night. i told another friend of mine that i am probably going to sell the car this summer because i am not happy with the running gear of the car.and to go back now would call for a new frame and running gear.so he talked me off the ledge and that is my new plan.my car is a hardtop from the factory. so i will need a four door frame. i have located a a complete four door close by at a very reasonable price.
so now my question do you guys think i am crazy or is this a good idea. my plan is to put the car back together with the sbc and keep it on the road while i build the new frame.then swap them.sorry my post is a bit pick heavy and long winded i am pretty excited.
my car is a 1952 two door hardtop. i am upset for lack of a better term with the direction i took the car. it currently has a 350/350 and a two link rear air bag setup. i kick myself for not staying more traditional.i have a friend that has a 52 plymouth fastback. i have a lead on a 49 fastback that is much better shape than his car. my thoughts are that i can get the 52 from my bud and we will swap parts to get him the best car i only want the chassis and running gear.his car has a nice motor he would keep. the 49 has a nice motor i would keep. the only hang up is wheel base. are the 52 fastback and hardtop the same wheelbase?thanks so much for your time.
i have a 8 circuit in my 51 plymouth i think it's called the pro-t. i have since helped install one in a 50 dodge and a 54 ford. i had never wired a car before mine. it took me like two weeks. the 50 dodge is the last one i did. it took me and two buddies like five hours to get it in. i like them they are easy and cheap.
i have a 51 plymouth with a 350/350 i installed. tell him a mopar is a way better easier fit. i'll post pics of both if he would like to see. i was having second thoughts about untill i drive my buddies 51 dodge the other day. and then i remembered how dog slow it is.
what is the diameter of the axle tubes? my buddy is ordering lowering blocks and they wanna know. i think they are 3 inch just not sure.thanks for your time.
my car has a 350/350 in it so the clutch pedal is of no concern. what has everbody used? i have a very small budget to get my car on the road and this is one thing i would for sure like to get done. thanks
how am i making you look bad? your car was back on the road a year before mine. it's funny that everybody is digging the white. it's going into a super dark maroon as soon as i can get some more bodywork done most likely this winter.
