  1. what year head gasket? i have to replace it any way.
  2. thank you that is what I was assuming but this car has tested me every step of the way!
  3. some pics of the og head and gasket. and this is a spare head that i had machined before i found the chrome one. so now i see the difference. can i do anything to run the chrome head?
  4. it is not my car it's a buddies. but I believe it's a 46-48 block.
  5. so iI am installing a chromed head,t5,langdon hei, and an edmunds intake on a 38 plymouth. I fired it up today for a few seconds and then started adding water. i have water shooting out of the block between the head and block near the water pump. i just realized i did not put rtv on any head bolts. could that be the problem? specifically coming out here.
  6. that would be great!
  7. the carbs are just sitting on in for now.
  8. hey guys long time no talk. i am working on a 1938 plymouth for a buddy it is getting a chrome head edmunds dual carb intake and a t5. i am dropping the driveline off in a few minutes to get shortened. all i have left is the carb linkage. on a 38 plymouth it does not go up and over the head as it does in later cars. so my question is do any of you guys have some later linkage laying around i can buy or can you point me in that direction? i know you guys like pics so her you go.
  9. Would that car be a "long block" or a short block?
  10. well i found the car a new home. the new owner is a good guy and sounds like he is going to actually finish it close to what i would have done. after the new year i will be buying a new project most likely another mopar i will keep you guys posted.
  11. I need to free up some cash and have decided the only way to do that is to sell my mopar. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=752248
  12. I have a set of 50 Plymouth springs. Where are you located?
  13. http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ i would give them a shot.
  14. i will post pics soon i promise!
  15. So i did a ton of reading and questions on here and the hamb. and today I put a dual master behind a gutted stock 49 dodge master. the car in question is my fellow club members. we have a small car club the lucky losers a total of five guys.out of the five three of us have 49-52 mopars.pretty good odds if you ask me...so we mounted a corvette dual behind his master and mounted residual valves. i test drove it an hour a go. other then needing to make a new cover for the new master and bleed the branks again. it went very smooth! so basically I am saying thanks every buddy.
  16. I have read it a few times now and I have some quick questions. 1. i know you said you don't like highways but what kinda top speed are you getting? I am removing a sbc from my car and going back to a 230 flathead. my current plans are 230 with a cam, fenton headers, finned head, and dual carbs. and i for sure want to be able to get on the freeway. just wondering what kinda speed your turning at say 65-70? 2. do you have part numbers for the pilot bushing? i am really excited about this and not having to spend the coin on a t-5 adapter.plus i have friend that is building virtually the same motor but with a stock head different intake (still dual carbs) and a t-5.so it will be fun to race!
  17. ok the donor is almost completely stripped.the frame looks great and looks to have already had alot of work done to it.and to further the confusion i am going to look at a 51 dodge hardtop tomorrow. if it pans out it will be a good car to put on the road and sell to fund dave and mines car.look for pics tomorrow.
  18. yea i have thought about that. and i have full intension to keep the car driving while i build the new chassis. it's funny i have a friend that has a 68 camaro rs/ss factory power windows and he has been a long time friend 20 years or so i am 36 to give you some idea anyway he wants to buy my motor and trans.so i might actually sell it too him and take his in part trade to keep my car on the road.
  19. I might be interested in it if it's for sale. I would like to build a stock/bomb version of my car someday or a 51-52 fastback would be even better.
  20. Hey bud thanks for the compliment! I love the stance it has and when I am done it will be a static not adjustable.and i am super happy about that. The frame swap has been along time coming and will take a while. I want to completely restore it and the running gear before it ever sees the car. Is the car by your shop a hardtop car?
  21. Some people call small block chevies belly button motors. As far as the frame goes its so much putting the flatty back in as much as the the air bag stuff. The rear of the frame has all of the mounting for the og suspension removed and i hacked all of the og mounting for the trans and motor out. Plus i am stoked to build a new chassis for the car.
  22. Your choice really. I have helped wire two p15 over the fast few years. I always just rip out everything and start fresh. I am curious why you bought a kit with so many circuits tho?
  23. Tonight's plan is to assess what all we have and get it off the trailer.
  24. well the day has come. today myself and two of my club members went and picked up a 49 four door. it's the perfect donor. dave who might very well be on here. needs the front clip and a bunch of other parts. i get the frame and running gear and it actually looks like the frame has been restored.i am super excited.
