    Hood Removed

The former owner pulled the head off. Of course he put the valves in a pile so that I can't tell which went where. Once again there are signs of owner mods.

    New Truck

Here sits my new truck. It was sitting all alone in a persons back yard. April 09
  6. Hello, When I was looking at the tags on my truck I ran into this page. Hope it helps. I think you will find that the number starts with a 4312 not a 4912. http://t137.com/registry/help/bodytags/bodytags.htm Thanks, Jerry
  7. HanksB3B, Do you have a picture of the bumper off? I am also at the point of grinding off the rivet. I would rather not have too if I can pull off the bumper. I have tried to remove it but I can't get it loose. Thanks, Jerry
  8. Hello, I just heard about Kroil today. A friend said the same thing about it. I have already tried PBblaster but I thought it worked no better than WD40. I need to pull off my running boards so I am going to give Kroil a try and if that doesn't work I can see cursing in my future! Jerry
  9. Hello, I know just how you feel. I have a 50 B-2-C and I have tried several different penetrating oils and I still wake the dead when I try to remove a bolt. It took me three weeks to remove the front sheet metal and bumper. I only broke 5 or six bolts that I will have to fix later. It just amazes me how hard it has been to remove each bolt. Good luck to ya! Jerry
  10. Hello, This is a link to a site that tells you all about the flat 6. From your number a P23 is a 218ci built for a Plymouth Car in 1952. http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/pengines.html Thanks, Jerry
  11. Well the books finally came in. Now on to research. Jerry
  12. Thanks, I have been all over the knowledge section of the website. I downloaded as much relevant information as I could find. I still want to get hard copies of the manuals. I like to have a hard copy with me when I am working on something. I emailed the person who was selling the books on the 8th of April, but I haven't received a reply. Thanks, Jerry
  13. Hello, Now I am hunting for as much information as I can get on my truck. Does anyone have any of the following books they might want to part with. Don Bunn: Dodge B-Series Trucks: Restorer's and Collector's Reference Guide 1950 Dodge B2 Truck Shop Service Repair Manual Book 1949 1950 1951 1952 1953 Dodge Truck Parts Book Manual 1950 Dodge Truck Owners Manual ( I am looking for an original one) I found a few on ebay, but thought that if someone here had them laying around collecting dust, maybe I could buy them from fellow members. Thanks, Jerry
  14. Thanks for the replies. The frame is in great shape. Under the hood is a mess. It has a few cancer spots, but not too many. I am in sunny Alamogordo, New Mexico, so rust is not as damaging for most vehicles here. I have a lot to do before it can be shown, but it is something that interests me. I know that a dodge is not a common sight at shows, but should I be trying to stay as close to stock as possible, like keeping it 6 volts and finding an original 1950 truck block and head? I can't wait to get started and really start picking the brains of fellow pilothouse owners. Jerry
  15. Hello, I finally took the plunge and bought a pilothouse. It is a 1950 B-2-C 116. The serial number 85507556 tells me it was a California truck. Now, comes the questions. The engine does not appear to be original to the truck. The serial number is D46*I23574. This makes it a 1953 230ci engine for a dodge car. The head has a 1951 date stamp. Would this have been a possible dealer replacement? How could I find out? Is there anyway other than getting the build cards to know if the original engine was a 230ci or the smaller 216ci? There are many parts missing and the fun of collecting them is just starting. I plan to post my restoration progress on here as I go along. So a question for anyone reading this, should I hunt down a 1950 motor or work with the one I have? If I wanted to take the truck to a show how much of hit would it be? Thank you, Jerry P.S. Here is a picture of the truck after I bought it.
