  2. Bob, Thanks for the link. I was all excited to hopefully get some insight on the vent window from the video and to my disappointment he did not show that part. Oh well... my search for answers continues. Theo
  3. Joe... It was definitely getting hung up on the window. I am hoping to not have to remove the window but may have to do so. What a pain. Everything I think would be easy to do tends to be more complicated than expected when dealing with this car.
  4. I am searching the site an I am not finding what I am looking for so here goes the ask. I spent about 40 min trying to remove the vent window from my 1950 Dodge Coronet so I can replace the rubber seal but could not get the damn thing out. I removed the trim around the window and the door panel and was able to access the screws (believe there were 5 or 6 flat head screws) around the vent window. I also detached the bolt on the lower portion of the door that holds the window channel in place. With the window down I was able to partially get the vent window frame out but it was fighting me. I did not want to break the glass so I put everything back and buttoned it back up. I figured it should not be that hard to get out. Is there some trick that I am missing? Help and knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. Just throwing it out there ... I am trying to find a good mechanic near the DC Baltimore area that knows 1950 MOPAR engines. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  6. Andy, Actually that helps. I will put it on some jack stands in the next couple week and see how things look. Maybe I will luck out. In the interim I added some ATP AT-205 re-seal to the crank case. It actually slowed down my leak. I need to drive the car a bit more to see if any of the rubber seals in the crank case get revitalized. That was my last resort before breaking out the tools or taking it to a shop to have the trans removed and the upper/lower portions of the seal replaced.
  7. Tom, Much appreciated. That is what I feared. I think I am going to have to call in an expert as that is most likely outside my level of expertise and I lack the right equipment. Damn...
  8. Keith, I have a 1950 Coronet. Should be a two piece seal. I am trying to avoid pulling the engine simply because I lack the experience and equipment to do the job. The video you provided was extremely helpful. I think I might try to live with the oil leak for now ... or try to find a shop that can do the job without emptying my wallet.
  9. Folks, I have been searching the forum for some tips on how to replace the rear main oil seal on a flathead v6 without having to remove the motor or transmission. Is there a way to do so or do just by dropping the oil pan or do I need to have the trans pulled? Any info would be great. I saw a couple nuggets here that make me believe it is not possible. Thoughts? Thanks.

  11. Dang... I was hoping there was a way to change the rear seal (top and bottom). I just picked up a '50 Coronet that seams to have a rear main seal leak. Any advice anyone can offer before I tear into this thing? Thanks
