  1. Nope it's dark blue -there are chip charts on ebay but all the chips are too small
  2. Hi All My car is all stripped and ready for new paint but I cannot get a match to an original Chevron Blue 16" rim I have- the jobber says they need a 3x3" sample. My car was black; no help there. I tried a match from the PPG chips , but it is no good, it did not match when applied to the rim. Does anyone have any leftover paint from a good matching repaint or masking paper, or can you paint a piece of cardboard, etc. and lend it to me or an old piece I can borrow to buff out and scan? This project needs to get going again before the snow flies. HELP! Ward NY
  3. My PPG Jobber explains that PPG has removed formula info from their computers He cannot mix anything I need a sample or I need the original Paint Color Code for the later Chevron Blue. This crosses to PPG 10319, the first version of Chevron Blue Was it also Code 203, the same as PPG 10318, the second version?
  4. That's why I am asking if ANYONE has repainted a car in Charlotte Ivory and has a formula based on a scan of the originaal paint Ward NY
  5. EXCELLENT!! What a great scene. Good Luck Ward NY
  6. Hello Group I tried to purchase PPG Concept paint today in 1946 Plymouth "Charlotte Ivory", Code 80001.. The Jobber could only find a mixing formula for the cheaper, OMNI line of paint, so he referred me to the PPG Color Library 800 number. PPG told me that they have no way to cross one type of PPG paint to another, and that their Formula #3945 was the "closest match". Well, I would rather paint the car an original color than be limited to what PPG can provide. Does anyone out there have a Charlotte Ivory P-15 that was scanned to produce a good color match in PPG DCC Concept paint? Thanks for any advice... Ward Duffield, NY
  7. Has anyone installed a 3.54 rear in a stock Plymouth with the 2.57 1st gear ratio? I was wondering how it would affect the overall driving experience. Thanks Ward NY
  8. I know the code; I was wondering if anyone had a can around with the formula I am changing to this color- nothing to scan or match Thanks PS I am still searching for a clutch fork boot Ward
  9. Hi group Time to repaint my firewall before reinstalling the front sheet metal. I am wondering if anyone has the paint code or the formula for Chevron Blue #2 in PPG DCC Acrylic Urethane. Either from a trusted data base or scanned from an original car. I have looked at pictures of Plymouths painted this color on the web, and they are surprisingly variable, Even cars painted the lighter, Marine Blue are represented as being Chevron Blue. Any help is appreciated.
  10. Hi Group Man, it has been a LOOONG Winter! I bought two Federal Mogul P/N 473240 seals (one as a spare for future projects), but they are only .312" thick, whereas the original 663 602 seal I dynamited out tonight is .586 thick. Where does anyone think I ought to locate the new seal? All the way in the differential bore? At the forward edge? Use both seals at once? I am hesitant to button it all up and see it leak. PS I replaced the yoke w/ NOS for about the same cost as a SpeediSleeve. Thanks for any advice Ward
  11. You guys nailed it; no gasket installed by DPO. Anyone have a thickness measurement for the original paper used? I went to make a gasket today and my paper is all too old, so I'd like to get the right weight paper tomorrow. Also I guess I'll put sealer on the welch plug. Thanks again for the help!!! Ward NY
  12. Hello Group Well, I was chastened sufficiently after reading about the possible demons in the rear axle bearings that I am going to remove the backing plates, lose the excellent rear brake adjustment, lose the nice, hard pedal and pull out the axles to inspect and anoint the bearings. And replace the factory seals. Axles were llubed 900 miles ago; in 1954. Question: now that the axles are pulled, I can install a 3.73 or a 3.54 pumpkin in place of the 116k-mile factory 3.90. What has actually worked out behind a stock 218 w/ a 3-speed? It is a little hilly around here, but I plan on road trips of 1000 miles a day. Opinions? Ward NY
  13. OK I guess NAPA is really the only competent source near me, so I'll ask there for a 46 Plymouth Pinion seal. The Parts Book specifies the OD (and the applicability list), so I included it in my post. I do not want to extract the old seal until I have a new one in hand Ward D NY
  14. Hi Cannot find a 663 604 oil seal (3.112" O.D.) for the input yoke on my rear axle Is there a cross reference list on the site or elsewhere to help get a new one? Thanks Ward D. NY
  15. No idea, but much of the work by the DPO will be redone, I expect. Thanks to you all for your insights Ward D
  16. Thanks for the very helpful info! I hope SMS has some good stuff left Ward D
  17. Hello Group My early 1946 Convertible coupe has no trim code info to be found, even on the original dealer invoice The car is black, the interior maroon and tan leather & cloth. Can anyone guess the code? The parts book lists red, but this is pretty much maroon to me I have attached a photo Anyone know of a source for replacement materials? Also the top locking handle is missing anyone have one for sale? Thanks again Ward D
  18. OK fantastic Now I can look real close and ck for that gasket Thanks so much Ward D
  19. Hello New to me P-15 w/ rebuilt 3-spd 90 wt dripping from clutch pan when sitting parked Not overfilled Causes? Cures? Thanks Ward D
  20. Hello Group does anyone out there have a copy of the backup light instructions for P-15? I do not want to drill any holes in the wrong place! Thanks Ward D
  21. Hi I have noticed that many Postwar MoPars have knockouts and motor recesses for under the seat heaters. Does anyone have one or has anyone seen one? I have never seen one or any listing in the Parts Manual. Just curious. Ward NY
  22. OK Thanks for the feedback Anyone use Corrosion - X ? Ward
  23. Hi Group What is the currently accepted best practice for treating the interior of surface rusted but sound rocker panels/rocker boxes. Not much factory paint in that area. Decent access via the running board grommets... Thanks Ward D
  24. What do members recommend to restore the softness and prolong the life of original seat leather? This car has sat for over 55 years. Thanks
