A 1951 Plymouth, 23 inch 218 will drop right in to a 1937 dodge, correct ? Sorry for probably being the 100th person to ask such a question.
-
I'm going to do a front disc brake conversion on my 1950 Plymouth. I was initially going with SacreBird, but I just saw the complete kit including dual chamber Master Cylinder available from Andy Bernbaum. Does anyone have experience with their kit?

Hi Bob, I just received the linkage from George Asche! Great quality and workmanship. Thanks for the information. I've really enjoyed talking to him. He just turned 90 years old and still working. I just sent him my B&B carbs to match. He's a wealth of knowledge.
-
Bob, Thanks for this closeup photo! It was what I started to copy, and will If I can't get a complete set up from George.
-
Yes,, I've read several posts about him and his intakes. Thats the setup I was going to copy. I have the base / bracket flange template made to copy in steel and have made a couple treaded rods lengths,, but George might have the complete set up ready to install.
-
Thank you! I just talked with hm.
-
Thanks, I didn't think they were still in business. If they are, I can't find them.
-
That works,, thanks! I may have to fabricate the brackets,,,
-
I have the Edmonds intake with no integral mounts. Has to be brakets attached to the he'd bolts, or a plate under the carbs.
-
Thanks for the photos. From what i can tell, you are not using a stock bell crank mounted to a stud on the cylinder head? Is the rod connecting the 2 carbs supported by brackets on the Head bolts?

Dual single carb linkage, planning stage
Old Flathead replied to lostviking's topic in Mopar Flathead Truck Forum
I the same set up,, dual Ball & Ball on an Edmonds intake. But I have no linkage. Your photo really helped to get an idea of what is needed. Do you have any updated photo's you could share? -
Greetings,, I have 2 Ball & Ball carbs on an Edmonds intake on my 218. I need advice and/or pictures on the linkage set up. Here's some photos to show you how they attach. Thanks,, Eric 8E2EC9C0-BC47-4C4B-B277-93BA92D4D2CC.heic 62459D92-289E-47CD-8993-0530187A9093.heic

grea235,,, I'm at the point on my 50 Plymouth to consider doing a shock relocation. I see this thread was almost two years ago. Do you have a long term report on the difference, better handling etc,, since you relocated the shock mounts? Thanks, Eric , Old Flathead

Thanks Greg! Yes,, #1 is the OD Relay. There was a button under the dash. I hadn't known it's function. The 4 leads from the button go to the Relay, Coil and to the OD unit. I have driven the car and used overdrive. Never push that button. Always stopped to take it out of OD. Hope I didn't cause any damage. And the curled wired that is attached to the #3 spot, next to the fuse goes to a solenoid?
-
Also,, I don't see 'Overdrive Relay' on my schematic?
-
Thanks Greg, It dos have overdrive, and yes it is a 20 amp fuse. I didn't think there was an electrical component for the overdrive? The car has a manual with a cable to put the car in and out of overdrive. If #1 is the overdrive relay, then where would the pigtail wire attached to the fuse side connect to, and what would it do? Thanks, Eric
-
Thanks Mark! This helps. I have wiring schematics, but electrical is my weak side. Knowing what the comments are gets me to the right spot on the diagram.
-
I'm asking for some identification of some firewall components. I have numbered the items to identify if you know what they are. I think #3 is the fuse and unconnected wire to the cigarette lighter? And #4 is the top terminal on the voltage regulator. So 1 through 6 is you know. Thanks,, Eric

53 Chrysler 331 Hemi in a 50 Plymouth Coupe swap???
Old Flathead posted an event in Community Calendar
Picked up a 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe Club Coupe. The stock 6 runs great, although I do hear what sounds like a mild knock. I'll be making a decision on keeping the flathead and doing a rebuild, mild cam, increasing compression including dual carb and dual exhaust,,,,, OR ,,, I found a 1953 Chrysler Hemi V8 that I think would look great. Either way I want to keep it a manual transmission. Has anyone done this swap or knows about what is needed to make it work? Outside of maybe a disk brake conversion, I'd like to keep the suspension,,, and the swap, as stock and period correct as possible. Any thoughts? Thanks,-

rhelm1953,, I'm the new owner of a 50 Plymouth Special Deluxe 2dr,,, I'll save your suggestions and work on the upgrades this winter! I'll bug you for more detail then ?

PT81Jan,,, You sir are a genius! Added the sewing machine oil. Went on a test drive. I heard it briefly, then the sound went away. Drove it a few miles and the noise did not come back. Thanks! And, Plymouthy Adams,,, thank you too! Dropping the fan belt would have also isolated the problem.
-
Thanks for your input. I agree with diagnosing from noise, then trying to describe it. I'll put the car on jack stands and listen some more. I'll also lube the generator bearing. I was told the engine and trans had been rebuilt, but that doesn't mean much. If I get more of a clue after today I may have more questions. Thanks again,,,

Just picked up a 50 Plymouth Special Deluxe 2 door coupe. Drove it on a 450 mile round trip with no issues. BUT, today I was driving and suddenly I heard a new and troubling sound. It was a sound that is similar to a heater fan running a high speed. The car ran ok, shifted ok but the sound was still there. I eliminated the heater fan as a cause but the sound persisted. The noise remains with the clutch in or out in neutral. Once back to the house, I shut it off and checked the fan belt,,, it was fine. I started it up again and drove around the block. The sound had gone away at first, then with a little acceleration, it returned. The noise is not there when revving the engine while parked but it is there when driving. Again, it sounds like a high speed fan that you hear above the normal engine sound. So,,,,, what could it be? It sounds like it's about the same RPM as the engine. Could it be a clutch noise? Through out bearing? I'll test drive it again tomorrow, not getting far from the house, and will get more of a description and more trouble shooting with clutch in, out, in neutral, driving in 1st, 2nd and 3rd,,, etc,,,.. Any idea's or thoughts?
