Rodney Bullock Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Ok, I have a new emergency brake shoes installed, how do I adjust it? How do I get a higher brake pedal, mine is very low to the floorboard. What do I adjust. There is no air in my system as if I pump the brake petdal it does not come up. Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Both, require adjusting to work properly. On the brakes themselves, if the pedal is low, and it's not soft and spongy, and you are sure there is no air in the lines, then your brakes need to be adjusted both major and minor adjustments, once the brake shoes are adjusted correctly, you will have a high pedal. On the ebrake, there is 2 adjustments, you need to adjust them in order to get your ebrake to tighten, when you pull the handle under the dash, I jst went and adjusted them until I was satisfied, there is a spec for clearance, but I did not do it that way. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some good advice on doing the ebrake adjustments.........Fred Quote
Normspeed Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Rodney, is the e brake the band type at the rear of the transmission, like the P15 models? There's a good section on initial adjustment in the P15-P25 manual. There are three adjustment points and you use a feeler gauge. After that, you can make minor adjustments by adjusting the cable. If you need that instruction page, I'll try to photo and upload it for you. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 Yes it's the band type, It was adjusted last year however now for some reason it will not hold the car. Quote
Normspeed Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Might just need to tighten up the cable if the 3-point adjustment was already done before. Quote

Rodney Bullock Posted August 8, 2008 Author Report Posted August 8, 2008 Rodney, sounds like the guy with the key on, listening to the radio at the movie set, was also driving around with the brake on. Yeah, I had a Pomonkey talk with him last week, I got out yesterday:cool: Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Just goes to show you how dumb Google is. Everyone should know that a "Carter Key" is a key that someone named Carter uses. You have "Coatney Keys" in your pocket. Try googling that one. Norm; Unlike you my keys spend more time in my car than in my pocket. However here is what I found when I googled "coatney key". Google aint as dumb as some posters who never leave there driveway. http://www.houseofnames.com/nameresults.asp?item=KEY-1000&sId=&surname=Coatney&origin=EN Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Yeah, I had a Pomonkey talk with him last week, I got out yesterday:cool: Rodney; Glad your Pomonkey body parts (read the thing you sit on) is back in circulation as I will be heading your way in a week or so. I have a 2 week stint in Dulles coming up. At this time I dont plan on driving my car but that may change. Quote
