JohnS48plm Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 I have had my overdrive wired with a hot wire to the soleniod with a switch on the dash to go in and out of overdrive. I bought a wiring harness from ebay but didn't have a relay. when I put a post on the forum Ed suggested a relay from a 12v car alarm. The relay works great even with 6v, thanks Ed. I mounted the kickdown switch near the ignition switch. Took the coupe out for a test drive this afternoon and the overdrive was better than ever. I wish that I had done this years ago. JohnS Quote
Normspeed Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 Good deal. The ODs are really versatile and there are a number of ways to wire them. I use the original solenoid, and twice I've had the OD get balky about engaging and tracked the problem to the exposed fuse holder on the solenoid. The brass contacts get tarnished and make a poor contact. Quote
