John Mulders Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 A while ago I asked a friend whether she could create a firewall tag from a picture example Below the result. Not too bad, overhere noone knows how it should look. Need to look at the size, think it is too big now. John Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Looks good, John. I'd recognize my firewall anywhere. Will be out late tonite playing my music gig. Will try to remember to measure that tag. Quote
T.Tom Meshingear Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 John, Since I make those tags I have the measurements handy. Overall Length = 4.125 (104.77mm) Height = 1.625 (41.20mm) Hole center to hole center = 3.250 (82.55mm) Tom Quote
John Mulders Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 Thanks, looks nice ! Don't have a heater though nor the 6 V starter/generator Yes Bob, think I used your picture as the example. Just fun to get done, haven't had too much time to work on the old lady. Waiting to get the window mechanisms back. John Quote
Johnny S Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Tom, what have you found to be the most effective and "original" looking way to impress the correct numbers on to your tags? I'm thinking about the heater tag specifically although it looks like the generator tag will require more #'s. John Colorado Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Do You Have Any Dodge Tags ?? Thanx Chance Quote
T.Tom Meshingear Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I don't have any Dodge plates because I never had a good enough original to copy but I am looking. There are two Dodge types - one with the Dodge Brothers logo and those with just the word DODGE. Number stamps work well for the plates if you aren't too heavy with the hammer. That will cause the plates to curl upward. The hand stamping looks more original because the numbers are a little irregular in their spacing and not in too straight a line. Places that do engraving/monogramming by machine can do a perfect job, it just looks different. The generator/starter tags need 1/16" numbers and are hard to find locally since they are so small.
