Rodney Bullock Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 I gunked my 217 yeasterday and discovered that I had some loose bolts. I tightened them up and went to see the 51 suburban. On my way down Rt228 I began to think of what Don and other forum members said about how fast they have gone in thier mopars. I started to push my coupe a little and it took it and sarted pushing it even more. At one point I started to hear what Cuck Berry called "The highway sound" This started at about 60 mph I pushed on 70 then 74 then I held it there, I was passing everthing;) folks were looking, I was waiting for something to fall off, then 80 mph "Oh my" I'm really moving now. I get to the bottom of the hill and the light changed:eek: I'm pumping the brakes and I just stopped it before it went thur the intersection:o I looked over to my left and this lady was laughing and laughing:cool: When I took off it was at 50 mph and that was my speed for the rest of the evening:rolleyes: so much for the fastest time. Moral of the story....leave the speeding to the speed demonds:D Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 OK punk; I will have to show you a thing or two in a week or two:D Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Once they get going.......the stopping is the next scariest thing. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 31, 2008 Author Report Posted May 31, 2008 Norm's coupe, the light at the bottom of that hill has a speed ticket light so I had to stop. Can you imagine me in front of the judge contesting a speeding ticket" oh yeah judge I'm driving my 1941 plymouth and I just had to blow thur the light" I got out of a ticket like that before with the truck. The judge asked the officer what I was driving when I told him I was in a antique. The officer said your honor he was driving a 1953 chevy pick-up the judge said "faulty equipment case dismissed. That was my last time speeding in the truck:D Don, I will be on my best behavoir when you all come down, there will be no shinanagans:p Now if it's a drag race you want we can go down to the track. They have a great seafood resturant down there and you can buy. or maybe a nice karioke bar we will see:rolleyes: Quote
55 Fargo Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 My My Rodney, I thought I was doing good at about 65 mph yesterday, had plenty of room to go, probably could have got up to 80. At 65 the car is noisy, having no headliner and door panels does make it loud, wonder if I install bubble flexi foil insulation on the inside of the roof, if that would quiet things down. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted May 31, 2008 Author Report Posted May 31, 2008 It will, It's funny as while I was building my car I never drove it until everything was installed and I was finished. I am very superstitious. There was a time I would not take a picture of a car I was going to restore until I did something to alter the way it looked when I aquired it. A friend of mine that helped get the 55 chevy here from Rappahannock told me years later that he took a pic without my knowlege how ever he can't seem to find it. funny people don't usually lose pic's that are, where on there dresser:rolleyes: Quote
