Hola All

For a while MoPar made and sold the MoPaR 800 Model Radio. These all have the seven control buttons as the 802's.

Are there any of you that has any factual information on this radio ???

I had one completly re-built for my neighbor's "to be" Christmas Gift, that never happened.

Roger,

The 802 radio face looks the same. Thought the other model was the 602 for 46 - 48. At any rate, the 802 has 8 tubes and the lower model only has 6 tubes. That made the 802 radio have better tone to it than the lower model. Maybe the 800 series was from 41/42?

Roger,

I have the original manuel that came with the model #800. I could try to copy and send you any info you might need.

Drop me a personal message and we can try from there.

Roger,

Hope that all the photos and scans found their way to you!

Never heard back.

Let me know and if you need, I will re-send.

Any more input on the model 800 radio...that's the radio my 40 plymouth uses...has a divided center to separate the push buttons from the dial side...802's have one central area- no divider.

I just found a model 800 sans side covers at the iron invasion car/swap show for $15...has all the push button covers and the full set of knobs.

I know the thread is old, but no-one is/has played with these?

I, myself, can't see justifying the over $300plus cost of rehabbing mine verses aquiring a remote modern 12v radio for the same money.

I plan on probably removing...not offend anyone here...the main chassis and simply leave the front facia section for "looks" only....so....if anyone were wanting to try and fix theirs I could give you what you need from the chassis....mind you, mine is untested since I don't think I have everything to properly hook it up. Add the known high voltage required to run it and this unit lacks the side panels makes me sort of squeemish to try and fire it up-lol.

A pic of my current radio will follow soon.

I used my 802 for years as an AM original, and only switched to a modern radio (inside the 802 case) when I converted to car to 12V for other reasons. I liked it both ways.

Aren't 800 and 802 side panels the same? If they are, I've got a set of them from a parts radio that I could provide.

Marty, did you do the radio install in the old case or have someone else do it...interesting idea cept that case is so dang big.

As far as the case sides goes, the only difference "I" know of between the 800 and the 802 is the front end- 800s have the split face while 802s are a solid face....my 40 dash runs a verticle piece between the face halves.

Tell me what you'd like for those- postage to 60505.

I had someone else install mine; the info is at home. It wasn't cheap, but all of the original pushbuttons work, the dial works, and it has an input for my iPod.

I'll give you the side covers for the cost of the postage.

My father replaced all the capacitors from mine and added a line in for Ipods, so now, I can flip a switch and play an Ipod on mine and with the Ipod having an FM receiver, I hear FM on it.

I tell folks 'it plays Ipods, but you need to wait 10 seconds for it to warm up.:D

Depending on how much it cost I'd consider it...I don't mind paying $300-$400 for a modern radio but to dump that much into a "just AM" seems too much for me....looks and function are the call of the day here.

Just as an option for myself, can your father do that again?...and what'd he want for his services...if he would....I'm looking for options here.

As I recall it was in ther $400+ range, but I'll check when I get home tonight. This was for a 12V AM/FM w/ iPod conversion, and the only clue from the outside is the connector for the iPod and an extra LED hidden in the dial.
