Was speaking with the folks at Roberts last week and he mentioned that he had a switch that would allow you to use your rear brake lights as turn signals and brake lights without modifying the light. Anyone have any experience with this?

I've done this a couple of times. It requires running a brake light wire to each tailllight. The best price I've found on these is from C.W. Moss, 1-800-322-1932. I think I paid 15.00.

A lamp that uses a dual filliment bulb can be uses as a combination lamp (turn/brake) without any modification to the lamp. I would guess that Roberts has a switch like the Signal Stat 900 that takes a brake light signal and incorperates it with the turn signals. It then works the same way as most American vehicles with combination tail/turn/brake tail lights. You can get these switches from many vendors including JC Whitney.

Jim, I used the Signal Stat 900 on my 51 B3C If you are still 6 volt you have to change the bulb in the switch. Also a very good ground is a must. The contact ground by mounting to the column did not work well in my truck, so I ran a separate wire from the switch. This switch is not cheep, but is all metal and built like a tank, also the looks fit the truck well. I have a couple of used ones if you are interested. Dutch
