Ed Griffin Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 This is the holster I mentioned. Left side has the Shriners emblem on the belt, center has Masons, right has Scot's with Masons emblem on each holster. Some places look faintly like they had been dyed or painted originally with colors of white, green and red but can hardly be seen. Would have posted more pic's but modem connection is reallly slow lately. Quote
Johnny S Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Very nice.....someone put a LOT of work into those. LIke most things they are worth what someone will pay. I'm not familiar with any special sets that were designed this way. They may be a one-off custom tooled. If they have a signature or brand name you would be able to learn more about their origin. However, if they were hand-made with no additional Identification markings they would be worth what the market would bear. They appear very well done in the photos. New rigs are selling from $350 up. Heavily tooled sets like would likely be into 4 figures if bought new. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Thanks for the info Johnny. Had no idea of it's value or possible value. Fellow I bought my truck from just asked if I wanted it while standing on their front porch talking. Said he picked it up at a auction but had no idea what or where etc. about it. I liked it because of the tooling and emblems even though I dont have any western 6 shooters. My 44 1861 black powder Colt sticks out the end about 1" or 2 but i didnt expect it to work. Hey, if I keep or sell it eventually you still cant beat free as the purchase price Too bad I couldnt load the 60'ft tower and antenna beam on the trailer he offered for free as well but thats another story. knighthawk Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I've seen lots of holsters with the barrel tips showing, I think unless you have your rig specially made , it's going to show. I know my Ruger Blackhawks with the 7 1/2 '' barrels stick out a little. Sounds like a good excuse to buy a second pistol to fill the other pocket !!! Quote
Johnny S Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The "standard" size holster fits either a 4.5 inch or 5.25 inch barrel length single action revolver like the Blackhawk. These are likely sized for something like the Colt Peacemakers single action's, Colt Single-Action Clones or the Ruger Vaquero's. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I dont plan to use it with the 1860's Colt, have a holster for it. Used it for a 1858 Remington "Old Army" Uberti 44 model I had once. Some Colt Peacemakers were what I thought would work but I'm really not into the cowboy timeframe of weapons. More of a War between the States buff. Think I'd rather just stick the old Shiloh pellet pistol in it and display it in my "history" room or eventually sell it. I would already have a 2nd Colt to match the one I have if a fellow in PA hadnt decided to keep my money and the pistol in a ebay deal. I'm only about an hour and fortyfive minutes down the road from Dixie Gun Works so the possiblity for another isnt out of reach. For now my funds are going towards my vehicles first. Quote
