No, but I've wondered if some new type fasteners would work OK for our oldies. How difficult would the new ones be when you want to remove the stainless??? They go in real easy, but seems to me they are not so easy to remove.

I can see that as a potential problem.....some of my trim does not fit just perfectly flat like it should due to either some slight kink in the trim or some acquired odd bulge in the car body. If you have those trim clips with a stud and nut on the back, you can crank the trim down tight and it will stay. (Like on my right front fender)

I tried some plastic clips from the parts store for the trim on the front end for a loose one on the car. Think those were actually meant for door inside panels but they worked ok. Couldnt get the larger end of the trim to go all the way in either but it was because the clip didnt have anything to pull the trim snug against the car. There was a place in Memphis called Early Ford that you could get some universal parts and more that I used. Located the universal clips that are on the RJ&L site at this place and purchased a set for both fronts. Problem with this type of clip is you need 3 differant sizes of those type to work on each trim. Good thing is they work better than the plastic clips I used. Bad thing is that the owner passed away this summer and the best local hard to find parts shop closed.

What I'm getting at is those universal clips shown will also work but you need to know which sizes are needed and best way to find out was to have trim in hand and sizing the clips until you found the right combination. This is just incase anyone was eyeballing the universal clips over the stock type clips because of price or whatever. uc2.gif

Norm, I saw all the other clips as well. Just thought I would bring up the pro's and con's as to using the universal one also shown here and the website. I bookmarked it for future use only to find I had done this already. I only went for the universal clips because i was able to pick them up and not go through ordering, mailing etc. Not to mention the clips at Early Ford were really cheap compared to online. Sure going to miss that place. I know the local Ford guys will. This guy had parts galore. Been around for years. First place I ever purchased blue dots from when there were no other places you could find them around locally. All you had to do is remember one thing when you went there. Dont mention you were using parts for anything but Ford. Odd I know but so was he and anyone that dealt with him knew this and knew better than to mention anything but the F word :)

While we are on the subject of moulding clips, does anybody have a picture of rocker moulding clips on the rocker panel without the trim attached? My rocker mouldings were held on with screws and last winter I had a welder fill the screwholes by tig welding and they are now held on the car with urethane. I have since found some clips. How do the clips attach to the rocker panel? :confused:

It is a pleasure to do business with Neil Riddle. Questions and answers below.

Neil;

Will these work on my P-15 for the piece of chrome behind the rear door above the fender?

Don Coatney

Hi, Don -

yes, I just tried them on a piece of the P-15 trim, they do fit just fine...

Hope you're doing well & Happy Holidays!

Thanks Pat and Norm that does enlighten me a lot. As I said before I now have them on with urethane as a temporary fix. I cut 20 gauge squares and put them in the moulding and a generous gob of urethane and taped them in place until the urethane set up. They held on good all summer and I drove on a rough gravel road for 14 miles one time. Brendan.
