When you say you "snapped the threaded end off" are you referring to the mounting stud at the axle, or the upper mount? Those will only be available from a donor parts truck. I may even have what you need if you can clarify it some.

As for the shocks, once the nuts are removed they should slide off of the mounting studs. They may have become one with the studs and need a bit of persuasion, but they'll come.

Shocks are readily available. I got mine from Auto Zone. They even had 2 in stock and had to order the other 2.

The upper mount is the one in question. Getting the shock off was not a problem. I banged on it a bit but it did not budge. Do I just get a bigger hammer, spray is with liquid wrench and hit it harder?

Now you're confussing me. Is the shock stuck on the mounting arm, or is the arm stuck to the frame? What actually broke off?

Once I got the retaining nuts off at the shock ends I used a prybar to wiggle the shocks until they slid off. I suppose a BFH and a punch or blunt chisel might work too. It's a rubber bushing in the eyes of teh shocks. If all else fails, take a torch to the eyes and melt the rubber out. You may want to have a fire extinguisher handy if you try that trick. Rubber tends to burn quite hot.
