FMSPEED49 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Does anyone by chance have a good pic of the " float fulcrum spring" that goes on the float? This is on the Stromberg BXVD-3 1bbl d-29 1949. Quote
FMSPEED49 Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 BTW I have the pic in the book, but its a pretty bad pic, needing to either match one up or make one. Quote
Quagmire1947 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 I know I'm a truck guy but are these diagrams helpful? http://www.old-carburetors.com/Dodge-Trucks.htm Craig Quote
FMSPEED49 Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 Thanks, got it, built one out of a coat hanger Friend followed me and said I was blowing "smoke" at hard accel, checked oil, good, check compresion, good, pulled the top of the carb, found the float cocked sideways, looked real close at diagram and found that spring, carb didn't have it when i got it, and the rebuild kit doesn't show it, and I never really noticed the float could come up, Soooooooooooo. long story short, this may have been the smoke that caused the bonami incident, but it solved my compression woes so whoooo, hooooo!!!!
