Kustom52Mopar Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 What are you guys using for replacement keys?? Finding aluminum blanks or is there another key I can get made to work? I still have the originals but they have seen better days. Secondly about stock wheels. I'm wanting to change to a wider wheel but really want to run my original dog dish cap. Anyone else tried this or got some crafty ideas to use em on different wheels? I know the hub wholes are larger than most ford wheels but I've got a Ranger rear axle and disc up front so most any steel with 5x4 1/2 bolt circle will work. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted April 2, 2008 Report Posted April 2, 2008 There are modern brass blanks that will work on our cars. They'll have a more modern pentastar shape but that's not a big deal. Take your originals to a good local locksmith and he should be able to set you right up. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 good call, thanks JerseyHarlod. Ha, Why didn't I think of that? Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 As for the wheels, GM wheels won't fit. If you want to use the original small hubcaps on more modern wheels, thats not a problem. Just drill out the rivet holding the clips on the original wheel and rivet the clips onto the new wheel. Then your original small hubcaps will work. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 ya Norm I had kinda thought along those lines but didn't wanna mess up my old wheels. But I could prolly re-attatch them if it doesn't work. Has anybody else seen or attempted this?? How bout if anybody has any tabs hanging around you wanna part with?? Quote
maurice wade Posted April 3, 2008 Report Posted April 3, 2008 I was in need of a extra of key's for my 47, I searched for the oldest locksmith store I could find. I gave the locksmith my keys, no problem, he pulled the keys off the wall and made a new set for me. Quote
