Guest Kuster13 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 This is what I have been working on. Basically turning the M/C around, fabricating a bracket and using the tranny and lower bellhousing as mounting points. This is not finished but the pedal is at the correct height and has full travel. The M/C is from a '67 D300 with 1.25 bore. Tom Quote
MBF Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 That's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Will you still be able to access the cap from under the hood, or will you have to create an access panel ahead of the battery box? Mike Quote
Guest Kuster13 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 I haven't gotten that far yet, though I do know access will have to be through the floor, between the battery cover and tranny cover. I'm still looking for a better M/C with outlets on the opposite side so the lines head straight for the frame rail. I'm just creating as I go, trying to incorporate all the requirements that are needed and dealing with any issues that come up. If anyone has any input, advice or ideas please share. All of your combined experience is priceless. Tom Quote
51 Fargo Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Hey Tom KMS tools in coquitlam carries M/C with line openings on both sides and it comes with the plugs for the side you don,t use. Hope this helps you out Barry Quote
Beau_The_Aussie Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Ok, time for a dumb question! How are yours usually mounted. My canadian built AU version (RHD) has the MC pointing back like this (on the other side of course) with a hole through the floor to check fluid. Battery is on the left under the floor. Just curious as to why you are doing this mod? Quote
Guest Kuster13 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Usually the M/C is pointing forward and mounted on the ear of the bell housing just behind the steering box. Not much room to do anything. Like other member's have stated the original M/C will do the job just fine if everything is in good condition. I prefer to upgrade the brakes and wanted to try something different. I don't have any new pic's but I'm just waiting for my rear shoe's to be re-lined and then I plumb it all in and give it a try. Tony WestOZ Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 To fit a dual master cylinder in the usual position the steering column needs to be moved forward. Not a lot of room in there. Pic stolen from rustyhope`s site. Quote
Beau_The_Aussie Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Ahhhhh, knew there was method in the madness somewhere! And good work by the way... Quote
