Oldguy48
Does anyone have any advice to offer for upgrade to a 12V wiper motor for a P15? I know PlyDo has one, as well as a few other vendors. I'm definitely going to replace my vacuum unit with electric, but I understand there may be clearance problems with the stock radio with some of these. I'll appreciate any advice offered. Thanks! Dennis Hemingway
Here are some that I am looking at. Dennis http://www.julianos.com/electric_wiper_conversions.html http://www.newportwipers.com/applications.php
martybose
A number of people have convinced me that the combination of a Ficken wiper service rebuild and an additional vacuum tank make for a nicely operating vacuum wiper system. YukonJack
I installed the kit from Newport Engineering. Easy to install, works good. Would not clear the stock radio in my 47 though.
blueskies
I really like my vacuum wipers... had the motor worked over by Ficken and it was the best $75 I've spent on the car. Nothing to retrofit, no clearance issues, and half the price of electric "kits". They work much better than electric wipers, imho. As fast, or faster than all of the electric wipers in my modern cars, infinitely variable speed, and they work all day long without any issues whatsoever. Had them on for 4 1/2 hours full tilt on the way to Tulsa last year... of them in action...Pete
bob westphal
My Ficken motor with vacuum tank works good for a vacuum system but it will never compare with electric! I once thought about using the electric wiper assembly from a '47 Chrysler in my P-15 but was too lazy to do it. The Chrysler/ DeSoto wiper system looks like it would be a simple swap and is designed to work with the stock radio.
