TJ Fire247 Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 This is my first rebuild. I am rebuilding a 1950 B-2-D and am looking for glass and interior for this vehicle. I have found some dealers. Any other dealers would be helpful. I just would like to check all options before buying any of these parts. Washburn County WI Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Welcome fellow Wisconsinite. The glass for your truck is standard flat laminated glass. Any local auto glass shop should be able to cut pieces to size for you if your original glass in intact enough for patterns. If you have the rear corner windows, those are the only ones that you can't replicate. If you need those you'll have to do some shopping. They do show up on Ebay from time to time. Interior can be purchased from Roberts Motors http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/index.html but I haven't heard many good reports about it's quality. I purchased the seat kit from them, but I haven't installed it yet. Reg Evens, of this forum, has patterns to make your own door, ceiling, and rear cab panels. Shoot him a Privet Message about that if interested. Merle Quote
Bob_Koch Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Merle's got it right. There is a place that offers glass for our trucks: http://www.classicflatglass.com/index.aspx I haven't used them so don't know the quality. I got glass for my doors locally and the guy did a great job for actually a few dollars less. I had the originals to use as a pattern Quote
grey beard Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 I have found ABS-like fiberglass 4 x 8 sheets of 1/8-inch thick stuff with a pebble finish that is quite suitable for making headlner and door panel trim pieces. Best part is these are available at Lowes - near most of us - for the pirncely sum of $20 per sheet. This material can then be painted with your favorite interior color with vinyl dye available in rattle cans from Pep Boys. Conversely, you could use the smooth side and cover it with vinyl, if such is your liking. This is the nicest approach I have found to interior replacement. No one with whom I have spoken has had anything good to say about the Roberts cardboard kits - moisture works on them and then they sag. I'm in the process of doing this fix myself, and will post follow-up pictures once the deed is done. If I can get this material installed, it should outlast the rest of the truck. JMHO Quote
