Seems like I always read horror stories about registrations and titles. So since my day went well I figured I would give them a positive. Went today to title my 52 Plymouth easy as it already had a NJ title but my 46 Dodge truck was titled with a engine number. So I filled out a simple correction form gave them photos of the correct serial number data plate. After a little confusion 3 people looking at my paperwork and talking to each other they said not problem but I had to pay a $20.00 fee. I smiled said thank you and paid the fee sometimes life is simple.

You got real lucky, Ed. When we moved to New Jersey from New York, I had a 1974 New York transferable registration, signed over to me from the former owner, for my '51 business coupe, with the motor number (long gone) as the vehicle ID. I wanted to title the car in NJ with the VIN, but got nowhere with my local (Freehold) DMV. I called Trenton (main DMV) and still got nowhere. They suggested I register the car in New York and amend the registation at the same time, then use the amended NY registration (with the VIN on it) to get a NJ title. This what I ended-up doing. What a hassle! Like I say, you got off lucky.....

Most likely went easier because it was a NJ title. It originally was a Pa title transfered it to NJ last year. Did not try do it then had a minor problem with it and was glad it went through.Since I was going to title the 52 Plymouth I figured I would give it a try and save a trip to Trenton. I also deal at the Freehold dmv and for the most part they work with me no complaints. I do try to go off hours when they are not too busy.
