flathead Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Which models of the 1948-53 Dodge trucks came with dual-carbs? Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 I can't answer your question, but the dual exhausts were installed on the larger trucks. They were common on the 2-4 ton models, some that had the 265ci engine, but many of those trucks had an even larger block with a 31" head. I doubt that the manifolds from those trucks would fit the 23" or 25" blocks. Tom Langdon sells an aftermarket set of cast exhaust manifolds for the short block. http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/whatsnew.htm Quote
flathead Posted November 13, 2007 Author Report Posted November 13, 2007 Tony thanks, but I'm wanting a dual intake. I have the exhaust covered... Quote
Guest flathead6 Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Flathead do you want a dual intake for a Chrysler 6 or a Dodge/Plymouth block? The Chrysler is 25" long and I have a spare dual intake for that block. Steve Moscow, Idaho Quote

Steve Moscow, Idaho Steve Yes, I am considering a dual carb set-up on the flatty. I believe the engine in my 1948 B1B truck, is a 217 or maybe a 230ci? I need to find out where to look to figure out what it is. Is yours a stock dual intake? Mike Quote
Tony_Urwin Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 I'm probably gonna be wrong (as usual), but I don't think there ever was such a thing as a stock dual intake or exhaust for the 217/230 short block. The larger trucks had stock duals, but they all had larger motors. Offenhauser dual intakes are still being manufactured for the short block in the Pilothouse trucks. About $285 or so. Vintage aftermarket intakes are also out there, but they can get pricey. Quote

I dunno, but I certainly do appreciate your two cents worth. There is a set-up for sale on ebay right now, it's not a stocker though. Thanks Tony! Quote
flathead Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 I went out and looked at the numbers on the block, and it begins with P15, so I have a 218. I guess I'll have to find an aftermarket one, such as Edmunds, Offy, etc. Quote

I think you are right Tony about a stock dual intake for Dodge/Plymouth but in 56 Plymouth came out with a 2 barrel intake. 1 year only for some reason. You can purchase a 1 to 2 barrel adaptor like the one pictured below the red manifold. Quote
