As I wait just a little longer for it to warm up to resume wrenching I occasionally look on Craig’s list for stuff for fun. I type in Plymouth to see what’s there. Recently a ‘50 flathead motor popped up. Owner said it was rebuilt by Mothers motor co. out of Springfield, MO 5 years ago but never installed. $4500 spent but is willing to sell for $3K obo. Only things missing are the generator and starter. I got to thinking. Is this a good deal if the price came dn some and is it stuck by now after sitting. I don’t need it but shoot...who doesn’t think about having that fresh engine laying about...just ready and all rebuilt and ohhh..that good even compression all the way dn under those spark plugs. BTW, it’s listed under the West Slope in Cedaredge near Grand Junction, CO I believe. Earlier there was a late 30’s engine with transmission just south of me for pretty cheap but I don’t see it anymore. Wonder what happened to it. So much stuff...where does it go

Its up to you.  I spent a little over $2k for light machine work, new pistons, bearings, oil pump and gasket kit. Another $3-400 for cam regrind and tappet work, and my time to install the parts.  It really depends on what was done to the motor (itemized receipt would be ideal).

Yeah. And then that P-4 engine with the transmission popped up again on the c/l. 1937 and it looked clean.  Don’t need that either as I already have a P-10 and P-20 engine sitting outside with old wheelbarrows covering them outside. No room inside. I rescued those.  I’m a part time rescuer.  Saddened me to see a ‘36 dodge 4dr to be parted out on another site. It didn’t look that bad but I guess it will give life to others that need better.
