So I’ve done it, I decided to rewire Elise (48 Windsor) (engine bay side) as part of my alternator upgrade, and I go to start it and … nothing .

I do continuity tests … continuous.

Except I think it’s too continuous. I check across the starter button and it’s continuous both ways. Check button alone and continuous only with button down. Somethings not right….

when I turn the key with battery connected nothing turns on (lights, fuel pump, etc) .

help on how to debug this wiring hell

one postscript- I jumped the starter solenoid port for the starter button with a cable and the solenoid starts moving but nothing else moves… should have tried to at least spin the engine right? I just finished putting it all together and I really don’t want to take it all apart to replace the starter….

I kind of solved my own problem .., polarisation - I started measuring voltage across different parts based from the battery , and all of a sudden I started getting lights, fuel pump, attempted engine starting….

seems I forgot the postscript in all replacement regulators - polarize .

now to figure out why it’s not firing …
