Mr. Belvedere Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Does any one know if the same wheel cyl. rebuild kit fixes both front and rear cylinders? For some reason Napa says in the front, the top and bottom cylinders have different part#'s but the top front cylinder and rear cylinder show the same kit part#. My car is a 54. They are all the same inch and an eighth bore so what gives??? On another website, rock auto, they show the same part# for all 3 wheel cylinders. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 The kits contain the spring and the cups. If you ordered one rear kit to rebuild the front, you would only have one spring when you need two springs in the front (one for each cylinder). Plus I believe the front and rear cylinder springs are different size. Quote
windsor8 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Check the NAPA web site if you haven't already, it shows pictures and specs. of parts. Quote
oldmopar Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 a parts manual I have for 51 shows the same number for the wheel cylinder piston, cup and boot only a different # for the front and rear springs Quote
Normspeed Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 I think it's like the earlier Plymouths, the rear is a double ended cylinder with a spring between the plungers, while the front is two single ended cylinders, shorter than the rear, so the spring numbers would be different. Quote
