hkestes41
OK. I know that this is going to sound ridiculous, but I have searched all over the local area and have been unable to find the right size grease zircs to fit the control arm bushing nuts. I have tried every parts store and hardware store I can think of and nothing is small enough. Does anyone out there have 4 spares? At this point, I'm willing to pay a premium for them. Just let me know.
oldmopar
do not recall the size or even changing mine. I would think a auto parts would have the correct size . I know the napa by me sells a package with various sizes however if that does not work you should be able to get a bushing to fit the opening and a zerk fitting to fit the bushing
james curl
I think the hole is too small for a bushing, if I remember correctly they are about 3/16" in diameter.
1just4don
first thing to determine for sure ,,,are these ZERKS knock in or threaded. IF the threads on the zerk go arond and round even they are knock in,,,if they spiral up and down they are threaded. Some zerks are beter on a 90,,,others straight or a 45*...Some sizes are MORE popular than others,,,but all should be available at your local parts places. new zerks dont last as long as old ones did. IF somebody "KNOWS" for sure the size and thread of these I do have a pretty good assortment that hasnt failed YET!! I even have a package of metrics rolling around someplace, but doubt they are THAT!!
splat1955
I've got a '48 Dodge and I think the pass. side control arm has been replaced cause I've got the standard " thread in " type of Zerk on that side. On the drivers side, I think they are the pressed in type. The front zerk on the drivers side control arm looked as though someone had super glued it in....and it fell out. The collar is still pressed in it though. I didn't want to try and work the collar out, so I went to the parts store and got a straight zerk. 1/4 by 20 threads.....stuck it in a socket and just threaded it into the collar. At least it's keeping dirt out. I've tried greasing it, and the grease went somewhere I guess. After I get the car of the jackstands this weekend, I'm going to try greasing it again. Anybody know how to pull out the pressed in type of zerks?
