chucky07 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 before i brake something i figured i'd ask ... my driver side door will not open from the outside...it opens fine from the inside....and the outside handle seems to point down instead of in the middle like the passenger side.... What is the procedure to adjust the handle? I notice there are 2 phillips head screws on the outside...do i need to take these off? And I noticed there is a lock on the passenger side door but not one on the driver side..is this the way it's suppose to be? If so..how do I lock driver side door? Thanks in advance... Quote
48WingNut Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 My 48 is the same way. Door lock on the passenger side. But to lock the drivers side just pull the inside handle all the way up and shut the door. Not sure if this is the way it's suppose to be or not but that's how mine is. Try pulling the inside handle up part way and shut the door and see if it opens from the outside. Kevin. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 key lock is only on the right side door. It's considered a safety feature. You lock the drivers side from inside, scoot across the seat and get out on the passengers side (this doesn't work for our friends down under) and lock the door with the key. You can't get hit by a car when exiting the truck this way. Quote

I was thinking of getting a US right hand door mechanism and lock and fitting it to my van so I could lock both doors from the outside. Quote
