47heaven Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 The mechanic called me up today and said that he had the clutch taken apart and noticed that the bearings (two half pieces) that fit around the snap ring (a bracket that has a round ball shape at the end that goes into the clutch shaft on each end of it) were broken. He asked me to ask on here where I might be able to pick some new ones up. Does anyone have any idea? Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Can you post a picture of the broken parts? Quote
Lou Earle Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Might not be broken- they are made in 1/2's use 2 halves to each side. Bernienie B. usually has them at reasonable price he does not charge extra fro the grumpy attitude. Lou Quote
Normspeed Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 If Bernie or someone else has new ones I'd sure go for them. Otherwise, I have a bucket of pedal parts out of a 50 Plymouth, there may be a couple of those pieces in there. Quote

Lou LOL! Well, maybe I need to rephrase that...they were worn out because a while back the shaft chamber was overgreased and the snap rings popped out when I pressed the clutch pedal down...at the same time losing three of the four bearings. This one mechanic I knew, at the time, made some temporary ones, but my present mechanic said that the proper ones need to be in there or the same thing will happen again down the road. I only have one existing, original one left. I'll give 'ol Grumpy a call and see what he has to offer. Maybe I'll catch him in a better mood. Quote
Normspeed Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Darin, before you go shopping let me dump out the parts bucket and see what's there. Why pay retail + shipping! Nice weather today huh? The best laid plans... I was going to complete the transmission swap today, then open up the donor trans for inspection. So, overnight it's 50 degrees and raining. Hard to believe a couple weeks ago Southern Cal was in a heat wave that caused at least 13 casualties. Quote

I'm enjoying this weather because I can move around better and not be so drained, which is what the heat does to me. I'll PM you about the parts here in a sec. Quote
Normspeed Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 I'm going out to dump out the pedal parts bucket right now. Quote
Normspeed Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Well, I have 2 halves for ya but that is gonna leave you one short. All I have in the bucket is this setup. The two in the socket feel like they're nice and tight. The other end of the linkage, the parts are gone and not in the bottom of the bucket. You're welcome to these, maybe someone else has an old pedal set in the pile. I'll keep looking. Quote
