martybose Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 As a happy user of Technostalgia's LED taillights for my 47 Plymouth, I wrote an email to them recently to find out if they had decided about making LED variants of either the front parking lights or the center rear stoplight assemblies. I got a reply back saying that they were working on both of them, and they should be out in the Thanksgiving timeframe. Given that I have been trying to find a nice looking center stoplight housing for 5 or 6 years without success, I can't tell you how I am looking forward to these! www.cool-leds.com Yeah, I did find some nice restored original ones, but they were WAY too expensive for this kid! BobT-47P15 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Marty, I was following Don Coatney around in Tulsa this summer, and I did notice those tail lights work as advertised. They flash 3 or 4 times rapidly when the brake is first stepped upon. Then they are nice and bright. But he needs to get some electric turn signals...... Quote
Captain Neon Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Very cool! I got questioned by members of local law enforcement twice last summer about my P-15's "dim" taillights and am constantly told that my stop lights (in the taillights) are burnt-out. I am planning on getting a new 6v battery this spring, but these taillights are something I can add to the Christmas wish-list if for no other reason than brake lights at the corners. builtfercomfort Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 I had an old 6v truck with dim bulbs - thought the problem was the 6v - but just cleaning the lenses and getting new bulbs and sockets helped a lot. If you have dim bulbs it might be extra resistance at the socket. I've been keeping an eye on superbrightleds.com - the have an interesting product line including car bulbs (seems mostly 12v). I need to take apart my tail lights and figure out how to make them turn+brake (easy enough if just replacing the socket is an option, won't know until I disassemble it) and I've been looking at their product line and wondering what I can get to fit inside. I'm also looking at a foot-long LED strip that I can mount as a third brake light, at the top of the trunk. I want it to be bright and last a long time. Quote
