pflaming Posted November 20, 2018 Report Posted November 20, 2018 (edited) I am working with two 3 speed transmissions, both aged. All shifting workerd fine then suddenly my R / 1st selector wouldn't work on either transmission. So, nothing ventured nothing gained, I removed the cover for those shifters. There are two balls that are spring loaded. If they stick in a position the transmission cannot shift. This is a pre cleaning picture, very dirty. we often fault the external mechanism on the tree. Maybe justification for more frequent oil changes. Those balls can be cleaned without removing the cap, by removing the threaded plug that spring loads the ball. They are on the side of tow casing, easy to get to. Edited November 20, 2018 by pflaming 1 Quote
