I have a 1953 Job-Rated 1/2 ton and am trying to find the VIN numbers that should be stamped on the frame rails.... I'm not having any luck.

Where should I be looking?

- Passenger Side

- Drivers Side

- Top or Frame

- Bottom of Frame

- Under Cab

- Under Springs

etc...

Thanks for any help ?

Feel free to link to it. Your page already uses my early attempt at a B series picture, note the Detroit built 1/2 ton to 1 ton frame shot on my new page is the same frame as is on your website.

E-mail me though, I plan to update that page soon, and the URL may change.

Yep, I found it covered nicely under a 1mm layer of rust/grease, drivers-side rail forward of the front wheel.

VIN: 83889596

Thanks

Mike,

Can you double check the serial number you found? The parts books lists the following serial number ranges for a 1/2 ton:

1952 B-3-B with T306 engine:

Detroit built: 82257601-82302000

California built: 85313701-85322000

1953 B-4-B with T306 engine:

Detroit built: 82302001-82335036

California built: 85322001-85327718

Thanks,

Phil

Takes time to resign, (4 wks) will fly out this Sunday (26th) and back later after the Kids finish school for the year. Then a relaxing 13-15 day driving holiday, (approximately 4500km) and should be in Qld (and near (100km) the ute) by Christmas.

Dodge, and the serial Number began with 90????, Now that I am in Texas, Queensland and only 100km from the truck I can check this sunday. Will get back to you then.

Can the same be found on the frame for passenger cars too. The VIN tag is lost on mine. I would like to find the original serial no. I do have the body no under the hood. Where else would the serial or Vin No be?

Sounds about right, I just recently added a bunch of Canadian Dodge Models from 1944-45, 1948-53 to my VIN Decoder:

Thanks again for the data, Eric B! :)

Phil,

Thats brilliant! truck 90097384 is mine and all details agree with what I have.

So there you go its 4234 of the production line. built in Canada in 51 and bought in Queensland Australia in early 52. See my profile to see the trucks side profile.

The Number "DC 51 DC 0307" is attached to the fire wall above the compliance plate any clues? I assume the 51 is year and 0307 engine. DC ??

The model Number on the compliance plate states DG1-08, what is interesting is you have it listed as a 51 DG-1 which is correct, however it is similar to the B2B but I think Canadan DG-1 (that stayed in Canada) would look like a B3B?

Cheers

Ian

I have rellies in Cairns, Edmonton and Babinda...two still rebuilding after the cyclone.

If not for the internet and genealogy we never would have "met".

The local motel owner moved down here after his pub was distroyed by Cylone Larry south of Innisvale, still North Qld is a beautiful part of the world. (I lived in Townsville for 4 years)
