kendall Posted February 17, 2018 Report Posted February 17, 2018 My electric pump is powered by the ignition side of my key and through a manual on-off switch as well. Installing the pump as a 'pusher' in front of the fuel tank, as required, places it about under your butt. My pump, one of the better ones on the market is so LOUD, you can hear it easily to know it is on. The downside, if you're rendered incapacitated in an accident and not hitting the off switch, the pump will "add fuel to the fire". I'm still considering an auto shutoff for that reason alone. Quote
cavisco1 Posted February 17, 2018 Report Posted February 17, 2018 The oil pressure switch needs to have at least one "Normally Open" contact. Good luck explaining that to the kid at the parts store. Scott. 1 Quote
Robert Thornton Posted February 18, 2018 Author Report Posted February 18, 2018 the psi switch is a single pole double throw diaphragm actuated switch. Terminals p for pump and s for start are normally closed. Terminals p for pump and I for ignition are normally open. This allows the pump to operate and fill the carburetor while the engine is cranking. When oil pressure exists 2-4 1/2 psi p and s terminals are open and p and I are closed. the safety interlock circuit stops the fuel pump when the engine stops even though the ignition switch is not turned off. this is the instructions that came with the Carter A-68301 safety switch. Thanks Robert T Quote
