Rear Fender Trim Backing

Recommended Posts

Good Morning everyone, on a 48 Chrysler's rear fender trim, which is stainless of course, there is a metal backing strip with studs/bolts that go through the holes in the fender to arttach the trim piece. On my parts car I removed the trim, but broke a lot of the fastening nuts/bolts off, the back strip was getting pretty corroded after 59 years. My question is can these strips be purchased, as the stainless outside slides right off, or am I going to have to make one up or repair what I have, or is there a different way to fasten the trim to the fender....................Thanx Fred

Fred, could you use just regular trim clips that fit securely into the grooves of the stainless part, rather than the strip? Seems as if that should work. It usually holds on the rest of the trim. There are some around like this with a stud and a nut.

These were listed as for a Dodge.
