Dennis Detweiler Posted November 8, 2017 Report Posted November 8, 2017 I have a 39 P8 with a 1950 - 1954 Dodge truck carb on it. What is the difference between this truck carb and a BB that is meant for a passenger car? Quote
Dartgame Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 I asked George Asche about that - he says the jet is larger and the emulsification tube has larger holes in it on a truck version. Quote
Dennis Detweiler Posted November 12, 2017 Author Report Posted November 12, 2017 My 39 P8 has a split manifold. Is it possible that one of the previous owners added a truck carb to accommodate the split manifold for a few more horse power? I'm in the middle of rebuilding the carb, so I'll continue and reinstall it. Quote
Lloyd Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 The barrel on the carb is wider than the original as well. I tried placing a later dodge truck carb on a 1950 218 and could clearly see the size difference looking down the barrel at the edge of the manifold sticking inside the carb barrel. It didn’t idle to well at all afterwards. I would suggest anyone going that route plan on changing the manifold as well. Quote
