If the 'new' Chrysler brings back Plymouth, I might actually buy one to show my support. Anyone else feel this way?

Nope!! I don't buy anything just because of the name. I buy based on the most bang for my buck for the amount of money I want to spend. I look for price, quality and comfort for that amount of money. Plus, don't buy unless I need it. Now, if I need it and the new Plymouth should fit that bill, I might consider it.

There is one other rule I live by when buying cars. Never buy a car the first year it comes out.

MY daughter just informed me her husband is going to order one of those 2009 "Concept Camaro's". They are based on the styling of the 1969 Z-28 Camaro.. I KNOW I am on thin ice here!! I did have a new one of those and next to the old Mopars I drove before that,,,I "LOVED" it!! AND I was a kid with need for speed.

NOW I just need to win the lottery to get me one of those "concepts" also!!

The 69 was a GREAT sports car with distictive sound and characteristics and handled like a dream!! A 'LITTLE' low on HP tho,,,my friend with a Mach 1 428 cold air injection cobra could walk away from me,,sorta,,,nobody else did that!! I guess he did have half again as big of motor tho!! YEAH for chevy small blocks!!(and 4 bolt mains)

The info I saw when I googled the concept camaro said the 09 is going to have 400HP,,,that should do it!!! With that I might get a 'speeding' ticket!!,,,maybe!! oops--just don--

Don

Won't hear anything out of me. I like Chevy's and that was a nice year for the Camero. My only problem is the word "concept", and first year out. As mentioned I stay away from those. Let them work all the bugs out of cars before I buy one. That usually takes at least the first model year to do.

While I like the Camero, Firebird and Mustangs I wouldn't own one. Don't care for that stiff suspension on sports cars. My son has a real nice restored 80 Firebird. Beautiful car. Only problem with it is I feel like I'm sitting on the ground when riding in it, and because of the stiff suspension you feel every joint in the street as you go over them. Plus none of those cars have good traction in the rear. Like my cars to ride smooth and sit up a little higher.

It will be interesting to see if they do bring back a Plymouth line. I'm not going to hold my breath but I am pleased that its even being talked about by people who could make it happen. As for buying one.......not on name alone. I will be interested to see what they might bring to the table. I for one am also interested in the new Camaro and I haven't ruled out one of the new Mustangs either. The new Shelby, particularly the convertible, is S.W.E.E.T - a - Rama. Saw one, I think the first Shelby convertible, at the Mustang show in Tulsa in June.

Ex- Home Depot chief Robert Nardelli named CEO of Chrysler

(Fortune Magazine) -- As the deal to sell Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management finally came to a close on Friday, there was one rather salient fact that slipped under the radar. Robert Nardelli was appointed Chrysler's chairman and chief executive officer upon the deal's completion.

That's right. Ceberus has confirmed that the disgraced former CEO of Home Depot (Charts, Fortune 500), who became the poster child for excessive CEO compensation, has taken the reigns at Chrysler. On the day the deal was finalized, August 3, Nardelli was elected to the Chrysler board. Soon after, the directors appointed him chairman and chief executive.

However, a source inside Cerberus says that Nardelli will receive only $1 a year in base salary. This person would not go into detail regarding the rest of Nardelli's pay package, and would only add that Nardelli's pay will be directly tied to the success of Chrysler's turnaround.

Actually, that kind of compensation could be a good deal for Nardelli. Even if his contract says he gets as little as 1% of gross sales as his salary, that's a pretty healthy annual income. Do the math, gross sales for Chrysler X 1%. As little as 100 million in sales will net him a 1 million pay check.
