A few weeks ago I came across an article on using an early hemi starter for the 218-230.

Can't find it now?? Has anyone any info on this topic.

Ya. It has reduction gears that i figured would help start my new engine better.

You have any thoughts about whether or not it would fit aside from the proper gearing for 146 tooth flywheel?

i put a  ministarter on my 1959 / 318 off a Dakota and what a difference it made , I would put those starters on every  mopar engine , I did not try one on my 1952 218ci L6 because everything is still original and I use a 8 volt battery in it and it starts great. I was hoping that someone had tried one and could advise me if it was a good thing. Might ask on a couple of others Forum's and see what happens.

Dakota02  There is a response to the same question on the P15 Forum  thought you might want to check it out .

Thanks

Checked that out. Seems reasonable . I'm going to check with an old hemi friend to see if I can borrow something to at least measure it up for fitment.

Later.

I have a six volt starter on a 12 volt wiring / battery and my truck starts on the 1st revolution every time. I do not think the starter has any affect on how quickly the engine starts, that is determined by how well the engine is timed. Properly timed, the engine can be hand crank started with one upward pull on the crank.

EDIT: I switched a car starter with a solenoid / button starter. I could not tell and difference on the start up. I like the convenience of the button, less stress on my knee.  Works great!

Thanks again. I learned a few new ideas.
