8srnad8 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Do I need a complete starter rebuild if the starter on my 49 Plymouth is disengaging sometimes before the engine is started? Quote
knuckleharley Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 No. If your starter was bad,it wouldn't work at all. Chances are you have a weak/worn out starter drive spring. While you have the starter out of the car to replace the spring, pull it apart and replace the brushes and bushings if they appear to be worn. You can buy them at any NAPA store for just a few bucks. 1 Quote
